HTC One and Droid DNA Android 4.4 KitKat Updates Recieve Certification

Looks like Android 4.4 is getting very close to release date for some HTC devices. Today, HTC updated their Software Update page for a few smartphones of theirs, including the HTC One and the Droid DNA.

The Unlocked, Developer, and Google Play Edition versions of the HTC One have had 4.4 KitKat since late last year. The carrier versions have still been on Android 4.3, but HTC did promise that all versions of the One will get KitKat within 90 days when Google announced it.

In order to make that deadline, HTC has, at the current time of this posting, one week, to make KitKat available for the carrier versions. HTC has just finished creating the update for all 4 of the big carriers and has given it to them for certification. They expect the big four to certify the update sometime next week.

The HTC One is not the only device to have certification coming soon. HTC has also given their Android 4.4 KitKat update to Verizon to be certified for the Droid DNA. This is really great, since the Droid DNA, even though it has Sense 5, still runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

It’s good that HTC has been so open about the process it takes to make an update available for their smartphones. And soon both HTC One and Droid DNA owners will have 4.4 KitKat, along with the HTC Desire 601 on Virgin Mobile. So, those of you with those phones, are you excited for the update?
