How To Share Steam Games

Steam is the most popular way to play games on PC – and with its heavy discounts on seasonal sales and easy to use interface, it’s easy to see why. One of its most underrated features is family sharing – but there are some caveats to it.

Sharing Games With Steam

For one, you have to have Steam Guard security enabled. You can do that by going to Settings and going to the account tab. Select Manage My Account With Steam Guard and that piece of the puzzle is set. After that, log into a family member or friend’s computer with your account and open the settings menu and then authorize the PC you’re on.

This will also give the you the option to authorize any accounts that are also on this PC. Finally, log out and then let your friend or family member log back in – they will be able to install select games from your library. Not all games are available for sharing, depending on licensing – so it isn’t perfect. However, this is still a great way to try out games without having to resort to piracy. It can also save you quite a bit of money if a friend has already purchased a game that you wanted to play, but didn’t necessarily want to buy.

As you can see, it’s really easy to share Steam games with friends and family members. By adjusting just a few settings, you can be sharing your favorite games with friends in just a couple of minutes.
