How to Send Files From Flashed Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to PC

A recent message in The Droid Guy Mailbag reads, “I am having a problem sending files from my flashed Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini to my PC. Is it due to the way I flashed it or is there another problem causing it? My PC’s operating system is Windows 8 by the way.”

How to Make Your PC Recognize Your Galaxy S4 Mini

While doing my research, I found a similar problem in the Android Central forum. According to the person experiencing the same trouble, he would hear a “bing” sound when he plugs his unit to his PC, much like when you connect anything to its USB port. However, nothing comes next.

One contributor suggested installing Samsung Kies on the PC, that is if you don’t have it yet. The tool would assist you in installing the required USB drivers in your PC so it would detect your device.

If you are encountering errors or the pop up message “device not supported” comes out, unplug your phone from your PC. Then, reboot the two devices. Next, link the Galaxy S4 Mini to your PC once more. From there, open your Windows Explorer where you will see the icon representing your device.

When you still see error messages, try to update or reinstall your Kies. When reinstalling, make sure that you have the latest version of the tool.

If everything fails, try backing up your device and perform a Factory Reset. However, if you notice the same problem after the Factory Reset, wipe the Dalvik cache of your device or its cache partition.

  1. Really? Where do you live and what sort of connection do you get that does not allow you to use dropbox and Google Drive?

  2. I never had issues like this on my Nexus 7. Flashed a lot of stuff on that, but it always connects flawlessly to my laptop. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Usually I’ll just use something like Dropbox or Google Drive to transfer files between smartphone and PC. ๐Ÿ™‚
