How To Fix The Vivo Z3i Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi Issue
Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this phone it’s best to make sure that the device is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.
Don’t forget to turn on the Wi-Fi switch
Your device will have a Wi-Fi switch which needs to be turned on in order for it to connect to a Wi-Fi network. There are instances when the phone owner might forget to turn on this switch making it seem that there is a Wi-Fi problem. What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the Wi-Fi of the phone is switched on.
- Select Settings
- Select Wireless & networks
- Select Wi-Fi
- Turn on Wi-Fi
Try to check if the phone can connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Check if the problem is caused by the router
Sometimes the problem could be with the router and not the phone. As early as now it is best to eliminate the router as a source of the problem. Check if other devices can connect to the router successfully. Does the router have a setting activated (MAC filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then it’s very likely that the problem is caused by the router.
Perform a soft reset
You should check if some form of minor software glitch is causing this problem. What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device. Although this is usually done on an unresponsive device it should also work in this case.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
- Wait as the device restarts.
Check if the Vivo Z3i won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue still occurs.
Reset the phone network settings
This step is usually done whenever the phone is having a problem connecting to a data network. The following changes will occur on your phone.
- Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
- Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
- Background data sync settings will be turned on.
- Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
- Network selection mode will be set to automatic.
To reset the network settings of your device:
- Turn on the phone by pressing the Power key for a few moments
- Choose Settings
- Tap More Settings.
- Tap Backup and Reset.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
Check if the issue still occurs.
Start the phone in Safe Mode
There’s a possibility that an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.
- Turn off the phone
- Press power button to turn on phone then long press on the volume down key when the Vivo logo appears
- The phone should now boot in Safe Mode.
In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
To find the specific app you will need to do a trial and error method. Start the phone normally then uninstall an app. Once the app has been uninstalled check if the issue still occurs. Repeat this procedure until the issue no longer occurs. The last app you uninstalled is most likely what is causing the problem.
Wipe the cache partition of the phone
There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
- Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
- In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
- Press the volume key to highlight the Wipe cache option then the power key to select it
- Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.
Check if the issue still occurs.
Perform a factory reset
In case the above steps fails to fix the Vivo Z3i won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then I recommend that you perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
- Press and hold the Volume Down + Power key together for a short while.
- Release all buttons when Fastboot Mode appears.
- In this mode select “Recovery”. Use Volume Down to navigate and the Power key to confirm that.
- Press the volume key to highlight the “wipe data / factory reset” and press the power button to enter. A screen with many NOs and a YES will appear, with the volume keys again go to the YES and press with the power key.
- Use the volume keys to go to “reboot system now” and press the power key.
Setup the phone then check if the issue still persists. If it does then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. You should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
