Getjar Sets Record with 100 Million Downloads

You think these guys from Getjar look happy in this picture? We are willing to bet they are happier now with the announcement that they’ve reached the 100 million download mark on one single application. Bruce Jones from GetJar is a huge supporter of the Android OS, however Getjar’s custom AppIt link allows Getjar users, regardless of OS download apps.

Getjar has created a way to make apps go viral via the AppIt experience. Developers and app publishers get a custom AppIt URL which makes sharing an app across the many social media sites a breeze.  With the help of AppIt Getjar users have downloaded the Facebook application 100 million times.

Since the Android Market can be a confusing experience, we at thedroidguy use Getjar for most of our app downloading on the devices we carry and the devices we test!

Getjar’s 100 million downloads of the Facebook app is the largest amount of downloads of one single app from any app market source.  Getjar was recently in the news with their advance release of the smash hit “Angry Birds” which caused a terabyte download per minute at the Getjar server facilities.
