S6 Not Recognizing Charger
Problem: One day the phone would not register the charger when plugged in. I tested with another charger, cord, and even power socket but to no avail. Eventually it ran out of power and I was able to charge it again, to turn the phone back on. After a while it stopped charging again, but before I could find a fix it returned to being able to charge. As I write this it has reverted to not being able to charge, and any help would be greatly appreciated. To clarify, the phone runs completely as normal, but when plugged in, acts as if there is no charger.
Solution: Since you have already tried using different chargers on the device ( I presume that you also used different charging cords) then let’s go straight to troubleshooting the phone.
What you need to do first is to clean the charging port of your phone. This is to eliminate any presence of dirt or debris in this port which could interfere with the charging process. You could use a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol to clean this port.
If cleaning the port does not resolve the issue then you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This allows you to verify if the problem is caused by a glitch in the phone software.
If the issue still remains after following the above steps then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S6 Is Not Charging
Problem: Phone is not charging, it won’t even go into power charge mode. I have checked both wire and charger itself; they seem to be working fine, as well as trying a number of different plug/charger/wire combinations. The port itself is strong and isn’t loose. Sometimes when I connect a charger it just says that there’s a charger connected (battery symbol with lightning bolt).
Solution: Can the phone still turn on? If it can then I suggest you try to simulate a battery pull first. To do this press and hold the power button and volume down button for at least 7 seconds. This will restart the phone. Once the phone has fully booted up check if it can now charge. If it still doesn’t charge then clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
One last troubleshooting step that you can do is a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing this.
If the issue still remains unresolved then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked as it is possible this could already be a hardware related issue. The possible suspects include a faulty charging port or a defective charging IC.
S6 Not Fast Charging
Problem: My phone does not charge fast with my quick charger like it used to, it dies quicker than it charges. I’ve already tested the charging cable and hub and there isn’t anything wrong with either of them. I have some friends saying it is my charging port and others saying it is my battery but i’m not sure which one it is.
Solution: Before doing any troubleshooting make sure that the charging port of your phone is free of any dirt or debris. If necessary you should clean this port using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
To troubleshoot this issue you should first isolate the charger. Try using a different charging cord first. If the problem still remains then try using a different adaptive fast charging charger. Make sure that the screen is off when you fast charge the phone. Just press the home button briefly to turn off the screen. The fast charging feature will not work if the screen is turned on.
Next, try to check if the phone software is causing this problem. To do this you need to backup the phone data and do a factory reset.
If the issue still remains then this could already be a hardware related issue. I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center.
S6 Not Turning On Unless Connected To Charger
Problem: My samsung galaxy S6 won’t turn on unless it’s in a charger in it at that it turns off sometimes i reset it and everything it won’t stay on for nothing . i plugged it into a charger it said 20% than 0% than 74% ….took it into a shop and they said it was the mother board … What could i do?
Solution: This is definitely a hardware related issue. Before ruling this as a motherboard issue try to check first if a battery replacement will solve the issue. Since the battery can’t be replaced easily you will have to bring the phone to an authorized service center and have them replace the battery. If the problem still remains then this might already be a motherboard related issue.
S6 Does Not Turn On After Falling To Water
Problem: Hi. My phone fell into water briefly 4 – 5 sec. after that i wiped it off. It was working fine at that time. but after a couple of hours suddenly it switched off on its own and wouldn’t switch on. it goes to the boot screen and won’t change after that.
Solution: It’s very likely that water has entered the device and is causing this problem. What you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once 48 hours have passed try to turn on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on connect the phone to its wall charger for 20 minutes then turn it on again.
If the above steps fail to resolve the issue then I suggest you have your phone checked at an authorized service center and have it checked.
S6 Does Not Turn On
Problem: my phone was at 19% so put it charge. I went to do something really quick and when I came back my phone won’t turn on but the little red light on the left corner is on
Solution: Try to simulate a battery pull first by pressing and holding the power button and volume down button for at least 7 seconds. Once this is done clean the charging port of the phone first using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol before charging the device for 20 minutes. Try to turn on the phone. If the phone does not turn on the normal way then try to check if you are able to start the phone in recovery mode. If you are able to access this mode then try wiping the cache partition of your phone first. If this fails then I recommend you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will delete all your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before doing this.
S6 Stuck On Verizon Screen
Problem: When it was turning on after updating, the screen stopped at the screen with Verizon on it, and would not turn on. The screen will stay like that until it runs out of battery, the same problem happens when I turn it on after charging the phone. It is not frozen because the blue light still flashes.
Solution: This issue could be caused by a glitch during the update process. To fix this you need to start your phone in recovery mode. Once in this mode you need to wipe the cache partition of your phone. If the problem still remains then I suggest you do a factory reset in this mode. Take note that all your phone data will be deleted when you do this.
