Best International SIM Card For Traveling To Austria

Austria is a popular destination for tourists. It's an absolutely beautiful country, with so many different sights to see. Not only that, but there are plenty of historical landmarks that are totally worth visiting. That said, there are a couple of things that you really need to prepare before heading out from a non-EU country, and one of those important things is your phone's data. You really need to pick up a local or international SIM card, otherwise you could potentially end up dumping hundreds, if not thousands of dollars into overage charges.

Orange Holiday SIM

Our favorite SIM card for international travel comes from Orange. As one of the top telecom services in the EU, Orange is able to provide you with cellular data to many EU countries, including one like Austria. You can easily stay in touch with friends and family with this SIM card, providing you with fast, 4G LTE data in Austria.

This is actually one of the better deals that you're going to find for international travel, giving you 10GB of 4G LTE data that you can use for 14 days. Orange gives you up to two hours of talk time, and then another 1,000 SMS messages available as well. And don't worry if you use a little too much data -- Orange allows you to top off whenever needed!

UK Europe ThreeUK SIM Card

ThreeUK is a popular telecom carrier in the EU, and as such, has a variety of different packages that you can choose from. This one in particular, we think, is one of the best choices out that. That's because this SIM card in particular gives you access to 12GB of data, 3000 minutes in talk time and 3000 messages. Just like with the Orange, when you're running low on data, you can easily top off and refill whenever. Don't be afraid of using it up, as ThreeUK is always going to allow you to buy more, and at rates that are much cheaper than roaming.

Mobal Europe Plus SIM

Next up, we're looking at the Mobal Europe Plus SIM. Mobile's SIM card package comes with 1GB of days to use, which they estimate should last you a couple days with minor use while in Austria. But, if you're running low, worry not -- Mobal allows you to top off your data as needed. One of the more unique things about the Mobal SIM is that they give you unrestricted tethering. Normally, a service charge is attached to hotspots, but Mobal allows you to use it for free.

You can accept free, incoming calls from people in over 130 different countries and even get incoming text messages. However, Mobal charges extra for the outgoing side of that, charging 30¢ per minute rates in all countries.

Internet with legs Trio

ThreeUK's Internet with legs Trio SIM card comes decidedly in fourth place on our countdown.  It has significantly less data than the past two options, but 3GB of data really isn't that bad.  The major advantage that this one has over others is that you can put the SIM in essentially anything -- it works with tablets, mobile hotspot devices, and more.

ThreeUK's Internet with legs Trio comes with what is essentially a "try before you buy" sort of option, giving you free roaming in the US to make sure it works with your phone. It should work with most GSM phones out there.

Keepgo Global Lifetime SIM Card

Keepgo's Global Lifetime SIM card might be last up on our list, but it's significantly better than simply going with your carrier's roaming charges. There's only 1GB of data here, but you can refill as needed. It's worth noting that your data and SIM card only stays valid for 1 year, however, you can avoid it expiring by at least refilling once a year. Otherwise, you'll have to throw the SIM card away and get a new one for your next big adventure.

It's worth noting that this one only works with GSM phones. This one is also data only, with no talk or texting capabilities available here.

As you can see, there are a lot of excellent international SIM card for traveling to Austria. All five of these will provide you with some great coverage and data availability within the country. That said, we think the choice from Orange is the best option available for all of your international travel needs.
