Kindle Fire HD

Amazon has just announced the updated version of the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HDX and the 7 inch Kindle Fire HD along with a new Kids Edition model. E-book enthusiasts will be pleased to know that the company’s Kindle reader lineup has also seen the addition of two new devices with a standard touchscreen packing Kindle and Kindle Voyage for $79 and $199 respectively. The Kindle Fire tablets will be running the latest Fire OS 4 UI skin on top of Android.

The Kindle Fire HD comes in 6 and 7 inch models, both featuring a resolution of 1280 x 800. They also come in 8 and 16GB storage variants and feature a 1.5 GHz quad core processor, a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a front facing VGA camera. There are over five body colors to choose from and it also has an all day battery life according to the company. Pricing for the tablet starts at $99 for the 8GB 6 inch model and can extend up to $159 for the top of the line 16GB 7 inch model. The device is up for pre-order now and will be available starting next month.

Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition

The Kindle Fire HD Kids Edition is nothing but a more colorful version of the 6 or 7 inch Kindle Fire HD. The hardware is pretty much the same inside, so customers can expect the same quad core SoC, rear and front cameras etc. Pricing for the tablet starts at $149 and Amazon is even offering a “no questions asked” replacement guarantee if the kids happen to break or damage the device. The kids segment is seeing more devices lately with Samsung launching a Galaxy Tab model meant specifically for children.

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9

The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has received a decent upgrade as well. The display resolution has been bumped to 2560 x 1600 pixels, while the powerful Snapdragon 805 chipset is powering the device. The tablet has an 8-megapixel camera on the back and will be available in 16, 32 or 64GB models so customers have plenty of options to choose from. The device also has Dolby Atmos powered stereo speakers making this a media lover’s delight. Pricing for the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 starts from $379 while the top end LTE model with 64GB of storage will set you back by $579. The LTE models (AT&T and Verizon) are only available in 32 or 64GB models though.
