Acer Liquid S2 announced, offers 4K UHD video recording

Hot on the heels of its tablet announcement, Acer has unveiled yet another monster in the form of the Liquid S2. This is also the first smartphone in the world to support 4K video recording, thanks to the snappy Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset inside. We saw the smartphone leaking out in benchmarks last week, hinting at an inevitable announcement. The Liquid S2 will go by the model number S520.

The smartphone carries a pretty hefty specs sheet with the highlight being the 6 inch 1080p IPS display. The Liquid S2 also sports a 13MP camera on the back with 4K Ultra HD video recording, a 2MP front facing camera, a 2.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 800 chipset, 16GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot (up to 128GB), 2GB of RAM, Dolby Digital speakers, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, support for 4G LTE-A and a 3,300 mAh battery. The smartphone will be sold in Red and Black color variants.

There’s still no word on pricing and availability, but we should expect Asian and European markets to get it first. The company will provide more information during the IFA 2013 event later this week.
