Acer announces budget ranged Liquid Z500 smartphone

Acer Liquid Z500

With the IFA event kicking off today, we were expecting to see a flurry of device launches. And even though the biggest announcement from the event has already been made (Samsung Galaxy Note 4), there are several other smartphones that are being shown off. One such smartphone is the Acer Liquid Z500 which broke cover a few hours ago. Immediately noticeable with the Liquid Z500 is the front facing speakers, which is a good feature to have on a midrange offering. Acer is also touting “CD quality” audio playback from the Liquid Z500, making it an instant choice for music lovers.

The smartphone has a slender body with a thickness of just 8.65mm and also features a 5 inch IPS display, an 8-megapixel camera on the back with no word on the processor or the display resolution yet. The smartphone will be available in Aquamarine Green, Sandy Silver and Titanium Black at launch. The company is yet to provide clarity on the launch markets, but it goes without saying that the device will be mostly targeted towards the Asian continent. Pricing is expected to be €149 ($196) at launch.
