Note 5 Recovering Data From Dead Phone

Problem: My phone was charged and sitting on a table when it went black.  I did not know that there was no storage on the SIM card in the phone and that I had to backup in the cloud.  Guys and AT&T and a local phone repair place tried very hard to get the phone to come back on.  The only thing that ever came back was the charging symbol. Is there any hope of recovering the data/photos?  I have gotten a replacement phone, but I would like to find out if there are any other options.

Solution: The only way that you will be able to retrieve the data stored in your phone is if it is able to turn on. Having said that it’s best that you do some troubleshooting first to check if the problem can be fixed in your end. Below are the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Make sure that this has been tested to work on another device.
  • If you get no charging indicator then perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone normally restarts after this.

In case the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should have the phone checked at a service center. The possible culprits could be a faulty battery or power IC.

Note 5 Error Occurred While Updating Device

Problem: hey, NOTE 5, SM-N920C, S/N: RF8G92LMNRN i’m having this problem “an error has occurred while updating device the device system, Use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PS software” I have no idea about my recovery system nor about recovery code, i never knew anything about this and i can’t use POWER + VOL UP + HOME BUTTON…… i tried my best and when i use smart switch it says it doesn’t support my device..

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to use the Smart Switch program ( which you can install in your computer) to update your phone software. Since you mentioned that Smart Switch does not support the device then you should try to check if this is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to update your phone again using Smart Switch. You should also try using a different USB cord and plug the phone to a different USB port to eliminate any connection issues that could be causing the problem.

In case the issue persists then it might mean that your phone has been rooted or is running on a custom software. You won’t be able to get any of the official updates in this scenario. The best thing that you can do right now it to flash the phone with its updated firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. This is also where you will be able to get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

Note 5 Purple Blue Dots On Screen

Problem: I was playing game on my galaxy note 5 after finishing my game i turned it off power button after few minutes when i turn on mobile purple and blue patches and dots on screen ..but my screen and whole phone is working

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to check if an app that you installed is causing the problem. Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are prevented from running. This makes it easier to check if a third party app is the culprit. If you don’t experience the issue while the phone is working in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the problem occur even in Safe Mode then the next step is to check if a system software glitch is the culprit. To do this you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case you still experience the same issue after a factory reset then this could already be a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty display. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Camera Zooms Automatically In Pro Mode

Problem: This happens in pro mode… When i try to adjust the focus manually using the manual focus, the camera will zoom by itself.. And when i release the manual focus slider, it will not zoom again… It is very annoying bcs i the focus is out most of the time.. I guess it is a software problem bcs there was one time where it did not zoom automatically..

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager. By doing this you will reset the camera to its default settings as well as remove its cached data. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Are you experiencing the issue in this mode? If not then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fail to fix the problem then this might be caused by a software bug. You need to check if there is a new update available that will address this issue.

Note 5 Calls Go Straight to Voicemail

Problem: Hello, recently i’m having issues with my note 5. For some reason i can’t place a phone call. Everytime i try to call someone i have to stay on hold for minutes before it actually rings. And when people tries to call me then it straight goes to voicemail. Is there any solution?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check your phone settings and make sure that all calls are not routed straight to your voicemail.

If your phone is running on Nougat then here’s how to turn off call forwarding.

  • From any Home screen, tap Phone.
  • Tap Menu icon then go to Settings.
  • Tap More settings.
  • Tap Call forwarding.
  • Tap Always forward.
  • Tap Turn off.

In case the settings of your phone are correct then the next step is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install ay apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you need to contact your carrier and inquire if there are any network issues that could be causing the problem.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Videos Are Buffering

Problem: I have received videos via Messenger. When I try to play then it starts ok then stops after a few seconds and starts over from the beginning. YouTube videos play for a few seconds and then starts buffering.

Solution: There’s a possibility that the problem is caused by your current Internet connection. Try connecting the phone to a different Wi-Fi network. If you are using your mobile data subscription then make sure you are getting an LTE connection.

In case the problem is not caused by the connection then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then you might have downloaded an app that is causing this problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
