Note 4 Shuts Off When Using Camera

Problem: Hi there, my question is why would my phone shut off while I’m trying to use the camera? I have battery life, it will also shut off using another app sometimes, most of the time it is during camera mode. I have to plug it back in to get it to turn back on, and if I don’t it keeps trying to turn on and goes from black screen vibration to sprint screen then back to shutting down

Solution: This particular issue not only affects this model but other models as well. One of the primary factors that can cause this issue is a failing battery. When you try to use the camera or any other power intensive app the tendency is that the battery will need to provide more power to the phone. If it can’t provide this power then the phone will shut down.

To fix this problem you should first check if a software glitch is causing the problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try clearing the cache and data of the camera app from the application manager.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a battery that is failing to work. You should replace the battery with a new one.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Randomly Shuts Off

Problem: Hi there!   I was just wondering if you could help me out with an issue regarding my Galaxy Note 4. One day while I was using it, it just randomly shut off and I couldn’t turn it back on. And when it shut off, it was still 15%, so I don’t think it died. I saw your advice about doing the soft reset, but I don’t know how to backup my phone data. Thank you!

Solution: You won’t be able to backup your phone data unless the phone starts so basically what you need to do first is to make sure that your phone gets powered on. Follow the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem. Move to the next step if the issue persists.

  • Remove the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed) of your phone then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Charge your phone for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
  • If the phone does not respond to charging then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Replace the battery with a new one.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Crashed During Update Not Turning Back On

Problem: I was in the middle of an update on my note 4 and it completely crashed and will not turn back on. I’ve tried everything out there to get it back up and running. Is my phone just toast?

Solution: Since the crash occurred while the phone software was being updated then it is possible that the phone could be bricked already. Basically, what you need to do to fix this problem is to make sure that the phone turns on and then fix its software. To do this follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Let the phone charge for at least 20 minutes before turning it on.
  • If the phone does not turn on then try cleaning the charging port using a can of compressed air then try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
  • If the phone still does not turn on then try using a new battery.

Once the phone responds to charging check if the phone can turn on. If it doesn’t completely turn on then perform the following steps.

  • Start the phone in recovery mode then perform a factory reset. Take note that this action will erase your phone data.
  • If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then you should flash the phone with its updated firmware file using Odin.

Note 4 Apps Close When Phone Is Connected to Charger

Problem: When the charger is plugged into the Note 4, all applications get closed and the screen goes to the home page. I can click on an application, open it up, and almost immediately, the app gets closed. When I unplug the charger, the apps stay open. Any idea on what is causing this? Thanks for any help you can provide…

Solution: When you connect the phone to its charger there might be a short circuit that occurs or somesurg of static electricity which is causing the apps to close. Try using a different charging cord and wall charger then check if the issue still occurs. If the problem persists try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Fingerprint Lock Not Working

Problem: hey There .. i have had my note 4 for a while now and i have been using fingerprint lock ever since i got it but yesterday i locked my phone and then came back to it and the lock screen wasn’t responding and the sensor couldn’t even scan my finger or vibrate like it used to do and i tried the backup password it won’t let me see the keyboard and i opened the emergency widget and i couldn’t even press the numbers and even the back button wasn’t responding !! i pressed the power key in order to restart it and luckily it responded with my touch and i restarted it and wrote the backup password normally (only backup password available after restart) and i unlocked it then went to the settings to set up a new fingerprint to see of the problem was from the sensor or what .. i registered a new fingerprint and the sensor responded just fine but then again when i locked it it repeated the issue i restarted it , unlocked it using the backup password then headed to the settings > application manager > system applications > fingerprints and cleaned the cache and deleted the data .. then locked it again and it worked for like 4 times and then gone back to the same issue .. i tried the password lock and it won’t let me see the keyboard to type my password .. i am using pattern lock now but i want to use the fingerprint lock. what should i do please help me !

Solution: It looks like something is wrong with the fingerprint sensor of the phone. What you should do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to determine if a software glitch is causing the problem. Should the issue persists after the reset then this is most likely a hardware related problem already. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Keeps Booting To Samsung Screen

Problem: Samsung Note 4 – keeps booting to the Samsung screen then shuts down and start to Samsung screen. This happens when the phone has full battery. Does not do this while plugged in to the original power cord. I have done soft reset, cleared partition, default factory rest and it will not all me to boot in safe mode.

Solution: Since the issue does not occur when the phone is plugged to its charger then you should try replacing the battery with a new one. If this fails to fix the problem then we might be looking at a defective power IC issue. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to its service center and have it checked.
