Going to Luxembourg on vacation this year? Or maybe to visit some friends and family? Either way, one of the things that you'll want to make sure you have in order is your phone data. If you're traveling from a non-EU country, you certainly don't want to arrive back home, only to find out you have a cell phone bill in the hundreds, if not thousands due to overage charges. That said, you'll definitely want to use a international or local SIM while traveling abroad.
Not sure which is the best SIM card to use? Follow along with us below, and we'll show you a handful of our favorite options, starting with this premier choice from Orange:
The best choice that you have, hands-down, is Orange's own Holiday SIM. This one has some great value for money, actually getting you data cheaper than you would find it in most places in the world. You're actually looking at around 50% less than what you would pay in the United States and most non-EU countries. You get fast 4G LTE data in around thirty countries across the EU, with Luxembourg being on the list, too.
There's a whopping 10GB of 4G LTE data that you can use for 14 days. There's also two hours of talk time, and then another 1,000 SMS messages to use in addition to your data. When you top off, the duration of the SIM is extended, and you can load up whenever needed.
You'll have to buy a new one every time you decide to take a trip internationally, as Orange's Holiday SIM doesn't stay in service for years on end.
UK Europe ThreeUK SIM Card
ThreeUK is coming up in third place on our countdown, and is actually pretty competitive with the Orange Holiday SIM. ThreeUK has plenty of choices for those headed out on international travel, but this one is actually one of our favorites. That's because, just like Orange, this SIM card will give you data access, and then phone and text minutes.
You actually get access to a whopping 12GB of data, 3000 minutes in talk time and 3000 messages. You can use it up as needed, and then refill whenever you'd like.
It's worth noting that you can only use this SIM card in phones -- no other devices. Video streaming, mobile hotspot, and tethering isn't available here either.
Mobal Europe Plus SIM
Second up, we have the Mobal Europe Plus SIM. The Mobal SIM card is one of the more odd options for traveling, but is still better than choking down the roaming fees back home. It's a little on the pricier side of things, but still beats roaming charges for the most part. Talk and text rates are bundled together, and they actually charge you 30¢ per minute rates in all countries, though rates are cheaper when calling to the US or Canada.
There's 1GB of data bundled inside as well, but you are charged for every 1GB used. This SIM card isn't the most ideal, as it can end up being really expensive. That's because it's attached to your credit or debit card. The plus is that you can use as much or as little as you'd like, but that your card is automatically billed for your usage.
Internet with legs Trio
In fourth place on our countdown, we're looking at ThreeUK's "Internet with legs Trio" SIM card. While still developed by ThreeUK, this one gives unlocked GSM phones a whole 3GB of data for on the go use while traveling through the EU. The biggest difference between this one and the prior from ThreeUK is that this does not have talk or text function. That means that you'll be restricted to using apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger for things like that.
ThreeUK designed this one with easy, no hassle setup as well -- there's no activation required, essentially acting as a plug and play SIM card. Setup is easy -- just set the SIM card in your phone, and you're ready to roll.
Keep in mind that this one is only used with unlocked GSM phones.
Keepgo Global Lifetime SIM Card
Last up on our list, we're looking at Keepgo's very own Global Lifetime SIM card. This one is fairly similar to what Mobal is doing, with Keepgo only giving you 1GB of data that you can use, but it can be refilled as needed. Since there's no talk or text features, you'll have to use your data for that over WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
As you can see, there are tons of great international SIM cards for traveling to Luxembourg. These five are some of the best out there today, but we think that the Orange Holiday SIM really takes the cake. With 10GB of data in tow, as well as plenty of talk and text time, you're getting the SIM card for a really sweet deal.
