5 Best Games Like Halo

Halo is easily one of the best games on the market. Loved by millions, tons of players are purchasing the Xbox One to simply be able to play the game. It has an immersive story line, fast, action-packed content, and it has a brilliant soundtrack that seems to awaken the Master Chief in everyone. However, like all good things, they do come to end, either due to a lack of replayability or simply getting bored with the series.

So, if you’re looking for something fresh and exciting, there are many games that are like it. Not sure what they are? Follow along below, and we’ll show you five of the best games that are similar to Halo. Let’s dive right in.

Gears of War

Gears of War comes up as number one on our countdown. It’s certainly not anything fast-paced like Halo; however, you still get to play around with high-tech weaponry and fight back the “swarm.” There are some awesome and immersive campaign maps in Gears of War that will keep you busy for a couple of days; however, Gears of War also has a competitive multiplayer with 19 maps and six different game modes. If you’re looking for an immersive game with some great combat similar to Halo, then Gears of War will be right up your alley.

Crackdown 3

Crackdown 3 comes up as second on our list, and is actually the closest that you’re going to get to a Halo replica. You play as what is called a Super Agent, which are basically humans that have “super” abilities, such as being able to scale skyscrapers or throw large trucks at enemies. Of course, you get to play around with some high tech weaponry as well.

There’s single-player that you can have a lot of fun in; however, Crackdown 3 also has something called a “Wrecking Zone”, which is a 10-person Player-vs-Player race to tear down the opposing team’s stronghold using your strongest Agent superpowers in a 100% destructible battle arena.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Coming in at third position on our list, we have Borderlands: The Handsome Collection. Created by 2K games, this is another that has a super immersive story line. The similarities to Halo is that it’s also based on science fiction, and you get the free style combat system that Halo is known for. Borderlands will actually keep you a little busier, as its full of content. There are quests to complete, and a massive universe to explore.

The game does take less of a serious style than Borderlands, giving you a hilarious dialog to take part in.

Sniper: Ghost Warfare

No, unfortunately there’s no alien invasion with this one; however, Sniper: Ghost Warfare will allow you to play as regular everyday soldiers, but you’ll still be able to play around with high-tech, almost science-fiction like weaponry. Unlike the implication of the game title, Sniper: Ghost warfare isn’t all about long-range combat — there’s a lot of awesome weaponry that you can use for close quarters combat as well, such as assault rifles and handguns.

We would say that Sniper: Ghost Warfare is a little more expansive than Halo. You’ll be dropped behind enemy lines, able to play as a long-range sniper, an assassin, or a close quarters warrior. Choose your missions, and explore large open world maps with dynamic weather and a day/night cycle that actually impacts your play and decisions.

Anthem

Right up there with Crackdown 3, Anthem is a game that will get you pretty close to the theme and style of Halo. It’s all online-based; however, you’ll get to play as essentially super human war machines, explore expansive sci-fi universes, and play around with the high-tech weapons that Anthem has to offer. There are all sorts of alien creatures that you’ll be able to fight, rewards you’ll be able to redeem, and secrets to be uncovered. There’s tons of customization in the game as well — you’ll be able to choose from an arsenal of customizable Javelin exosuits for your character, which is armor designed to provide its pilot with incredible offensive and defensive capabilities, the “super human” aspects we were talking about earlier.
