Mass Effect: Andromeda

Coming up as number one on our countdown, the Mass Effect series is an excellent game, and is similar to Beyond Two Souls as far as actual game mechanics go. This is actually popular open-world role playing game series — Mass Effect, and the Andromeda installment is probably one of the best titles yet. Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition is another favorite as far as narrative-driven games go. The whole Dragon Age series is great, but Inquisition is the latest title in the series. Dragon Age offers one of the most immersive and rich story lines today; however, the plot is pretty standard as far as fantasy style games go — a cataclysmic event brings the land into turmoil, where dragons darken the sky, and mages break out into all out war. The world is an absolute chaos, but it’s up to you to save it and restore peace.

There are some other awesome highlights — rich character customization, a dynamic combat system, awesome dialog, and plenty of player-choice that makes every playthrough truly unique.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is up next. This game was a massive undertaking, so much so that it eventually put the developers out of business; however, the finished product did make it to market. It’ll provide you with thousands of hours of content — what players love most about this game is the narrative and rich story. There’s some great combat mechanics and more, but the story is what seems to draw everyone in. It’s another “the world is in chaos” plot, but thrilling nonetheless, largely because of great, believable dialog.

There’s a rich character customization mechanic, so you’ll be able to to truly make your character unique with millions of combinations of skills, abilities, weapons and pieces of armor.

Fallout 76

And finally, coming up as last on our list, we have the relatively new Fallout 76. Fallout has always been about rich and excellent narratives, and Fallout 76 is no different. This is an open-world RPG, but is considered to be the prequel to all of the other Fallout games out there. Fallout 76 is now a persistent, online world, where you’ll get to play with actual, real people; however, there’s still an engaging story line you can take part in. You can choose to fly solo, or work with other people to accomplish difficult tasks ahead of you.

You still get all of the awesome things that makes Fallout great, such as the V.A.T.S. system and unique combat mechanics.

If we had to pick one as our favorite, we would have to say that Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dragon Age: Inquisition are both great alternatives.
