DJI Phantom P3
The DJI Phantom P3 is an excellent drone that pairs up with an Android app on your phone. There’s a button in the app that tells the Phantom P3 to follow you, using your phones GPS location. On top of that, the drone has awesome technology built into it. It comes with an intelligent battery that allows the drone to fly in the air for up 25 minutes. With your purchase, you’ll get a set of extra propellers, too.
The drone has some other nice features, such as a built-in 12-megapixel camera that can capture 2.7K HD video. You can pick this drone up off of Amazon for just $460.
3DR Solo Quadcopter
The Solo Quadcopter is another great option, this time from a company called 3DR. Similarly, it has an Android application that puts the controls of this miniature aircraft at your fingertips. If you don’t want to use the phone app, it comes with a controller for controlling its movements and camera recording capabilities. But, if you do use the app, you can take advantage of the drone’s cool “follow me” capabilities.
This drone won’t set you back much, as you can pick it up off of Amazon for only $230.
DJI Phantom 4 PRO
DJI is a fantastic consumer drone company, and that’s why we’re also including their Phantom 4 PRO drone. This drone is a serious upgrade from the Phantom P3, particularly when it comes to recording video. Instead of 2.4K recording, the Phantom 4 PRO can record full 4K video with its 1-inch 20-megapixel camera sensor. On top of that, it has DJI’s improved intelligent battery, which lets you get an extra five minutes of flight time. Similar to the Phantom P3, it has an Android app you can use with the drone.
These upgrades will cost you a bit, as it does include a 4K camera. The DJI Phantom 4 PRO Can be had for $1345 over on Amazon.
Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0
The Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 is another great option that can be controlled through an Android an application. It does have a “follow me” mode, wherein it follows you around using your smartphone’s GPS. It has a battery that can last up to 25 minutes and give you a half mile of range. It also has a 4K camera, but it’s not nearly as good as the 4K camera that comes with the DJI Phantom 4 PRO.
The neat part of this drone is its No Fault one-year warranty. If you break the drone, send it back to Ehang and they’ll fix it for free up to three times. You can pick this drone up off of Amazon for $355.
DGI Mavic Pro
DGI has another excellent drone: the Mavic Pro. It’s a small and low profile drone. Because of how compact it is, its internals are complex, especially when it comes to the camera. That puts it on the pricier end.
However, it has a ton of great features. You can get 25 minutes of flight time out of a single battery, but this drone actually comes with three batteries, so you can get a full 75 minutes out of it. With the Android app, you can record 4K video, use different flight modes and choose how fast the drone operates up to 40 miles per hour.
You can pick this drone up (and its accessory package) off of Amazon for $1300.
There’s a lot of excellent drones on this list, so it can be difficult to pick just one. If you had to choose between one of the DJI options, we would definitely recommend the Mavic Pro, as its low profile design makes it ideal for vacation trips or general travels. If you don’t want to spend that much money on a drone, EHang’s Ghostdrone 2.0 is a great 4K camera option with an excellent warranty. And then lastly, you have the 3DR Solo Quadcopter, which is a low profile drone that’s more affordable than even the Ehang.
No matter what you choose, you’ll have a great drone you can take to the skies on any of your travels.
