Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Slow Charging

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is one of the premium Android smartphone models that  can perform very well. This is due to the powerful processor ( Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895) processor combined with 4GB of RAM that the phone uses allowing it to run multiple apps smoothly. With its large 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display this phone is best used for various multimedia tasks. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 slow charging issue and other related problems.

S8 Slow Charging

Problem: Hello.  Just a few days ago, I was out all day to get home to a dead phone and so I plugged it in and it indicated that it was charging and so I went to sleep.  I woke up the next morning to turn on my phone and find that it had only gotten to about 57% after over twelve hours of charging. I put it back on the charge and watched it because I have had the issue of it going on and off of charging all night.  But this time was different. It showed that it never stopped charging, but was still going at this sloth’s pace. I put up with it and hoped that it would just start charging at it’s normal rate again. And then came today. I was just at the end of a game of PUBG on my phone and it turned off, which was not unexpected for it had given me the 5% warning long before.  But the thing that brought me here was that after I plugged it in, it gave me the warning that the battery was either busted or missing. I have gone through your articles on why the battery charges so slowly and why it says the battery is either damaged or missing. I have tried everything that you’ve recommended and none of it seems to apply to my device or doesn’t help in my scenario.  I do not know what version of android it was running on.

Solution: There’s a possibility that the battery is indeed faulty as it previously shows signs of not charging properly. What you will want to do right now is to first eliminate the other possible factors that can cause this problem before bringing the phone to a service center for a battery replacement. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try turning on the phone.
  • To eliminate any software related glitches that could be causing this problem you should do a factory reset from recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Is Not Charging

Problem: My phone was charging last night using a wireless charger and was about 12% and I took it off the charge to turn it on and it was on for about 3 mins before it switched off again because it went flat. I put it back on the charger and left it to charge overnight, but when I tried turning the phone on this morning it wouldn’t. I have tried using different chargers and cables even a car charger but it’s still not charging the phone and I have noticed that its heating up as well. Please help.

Solution: If the phone does not charge using a wireless charger or a wired charger then the problem could be caused by a faulty power IC or battery. You can troubleshoot this further by cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge the device using a different charging cord and wall charger. If this doesn’t work then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Not Turning On After Screen Replacement

Problem: I replaced the screen for s8.  After installing the new screen i checked it, it was working fine. when i fixed the back cover then it turned off and did not turn on even not showing any charging sign. I put it on charge for 15 minutes still not showing any sign. I have also done press volume done and power key. But the battery was only 1% when i was done with this phone. Can you please tell me the reason and solution.

Solution: You should double check the work you did while replacing the screen as the problem could be caused by a loose connection. There’s also the possibility that this could be caused by a drained battery in which case you will need to charge the phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Charge the phone for 20 minutes  using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
