Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Moisture Detected In Charging Port Error

Despite the fact that the #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 has an IP68 certification ( which means that the phone is dust proof and water proof) There are instances when water related issues can occur on the device. Take for instance the moisture detected in charging port error which one of our readers is facing. We will take a look at how this issue as well as other related problems can be resolved.

S8 Moisture Detected In Charging Port Error

Problem: Hi, I have a Galaxy it  has a “moisture detected in USB port” message.  I’ve had this come up once before and it confused me since my phone has been nowhere near water and I even live in a very arid place.  Last time I turned off my phone and turned it on again and the problem went away.  This time it won’t turn back on.  It did the Forced Reboot Procedure while it was plugged in which caused the Samsung logo to show up for a few seconds before going back to the black screen on death.  Please help!  I live in the middle of nowhere and I’m scared to drive to the nearest town in this weather without a phone to call for help.

Solution: You will usually get the moisture detected in charging port error if the phone sensor detects the presence of liquid in the charging port. You will then be prevented from charging the phone as this could cause a short circuit. What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the port is dry. Since you mentioned that the port is not wet and the phone has not have any contact with water then the problem is most likely caused by a software glitch. Did the phone do any software updates lately? The update might be causing this problem since several other owners of this phone have also experienced the same issue after the update. The best thing to do in this case is connect the phone to its charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the phone does not turn on then try accessing the recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will delete your phone data.

If the problem persists then you will need to have this checked at a service center.

S8 Battery Drains Fast

Problem: my daughter has a samsung S8 and has had it since oct 2017 , it has had no problems until the last two updates and now the battery wont stay charged as long and barely lasts part of the day where previously would go the entire day without having to recharge. all her apps on asleep, she has no battery or fix apps , and her brightness and sleep apps are used always. we charge with samsung fast charge and normal samsung cables. she has factory reset twice, had phone place run diagnostics and they say battery and all is fine, also had a third party from rogers look to see if we were missing an app running in the background. everyone says its fine and they don’t’ know why it is happening. i am thinking maybe do a phone  replacement with a fee of 200.  or she is seriously hating her phone now and is thinking of going to an iphone. if there are new ideas to why her phone may be having these issues, we would love to fix this issue. we have been reading online that others are also experiencing  similar issues after the last couple software updates. thank you for any guidance you can give us.

Solution: Does the phone have a microSD card installed in it? If it does then try removing this as this could be causing the problem. In case the phone does not have any microSD card installed or if the issue still remains even after the removal of the card then try performing another round of factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in the phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs and if it does then you should have this checked at a service center as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

S8 Keeps On Restarting

Problem: Hi I have a samsung S8 that would keep restarting when it was low on battery. Then it would work fine once my battery got to 20% or so. But I just did the latest update, and now it keeps restarting constantly no matter how charged my battery is. I’m afraid that it’s completely ruined now.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if the issue is caused by a software glitch. Take note that this will erase your phone data. In case the issue still occurs after this then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by  faulty hardware component possibly the battery.

S8 Does Not Start

Problem: I have a Samsung S8 , that’s started to misbehave it will charge ok , you switch it on , it will power up , goes to main screen , then screen goes blank , it wont  lit to be turned off , so have to wait for battery to drain my main suspects are corrupt firmware , bad battery , or malware , right now its dead in the water should i cut my losses and get rid , or due you think it worth taking to a samsung repair facility or indeed is there a more simpler fix please advise

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge it for 20 minutes using a wall charger. Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue persists then you need to have this checked at a service center.
