S9+ Black Screen After Drop
Problem: I dropped my Galaxy S9 plus from about 2 ft. It landed flatly, face down and is not cracked. The screen does not come on but the notification light stays lit. It turns off when I press the power button on the side.
Solution: It looks like the drop might have damaged the phone display. The best troubleshooting that you can do right now is to check if this might just be caused by a software glitch. Start your phone in recovery mode. If the display works in this mode then it could be caused by a software glitch. You will then have to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the problem persists even in recovery mode then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9+ Screen is Black But Notifications Working
Problem: I have an galaxy S9+ , I have dropped it numerous times before. I was using it, playing a game as the battery was draining. The battery was at 2% so I was preparing to exit my game and power down the phone before it shut down on its own. The next thing I knew, the phone shutdown. I waited a little while (I did have it connected to an external battery) and after I thought it had charged enough I turned it on. The screen stays black and I couldn’t make out anything. I know it was on because it would ring. This has happened before but I can’t remember what I did to get it to clear. When I try the vol down and power it will flash a green line along the right side but stay black. Since I can’t read the screen I can’t wipe the partition or do a reset. Is the anything I can do short of replacing the digitizer? Thank you for your time.
Solution: Just like the issue which we have addressed above the best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do factory reset in case the display works in this mode. Take note that this action will delete your phone data. If this does not fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9+ Screen Becomes Unresponsive
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and within the past month or so, the phone will become unresponsive after sleep mode/or while or after charging and sometimes turns itself off. I am now forcing restart several times a day. Today I started it in safe mode and have left it in that mode and it seems to be better, but it was a long delay for the screen to turn on. I really don’t want to wipe the phone if I don’t have to, any suggestions?
Solution: If the issue appears to be resolved when the phone is started in Safe Mode then this is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue persists then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9+ Screen Flickering After Getting Wet
Problem: I went running and phone was in my pocket. It started raining all of a sudden and my phone was soaking wet when I reached home. The screen started flickering. So i turned it off and used a hairdryer to dry it out. I tried turning it on, but it won’t turn on. It is in a box of rice right now and I plan on leaving it there overnight. Please help me with this. Is there anything else I can do to revive it?
Solution: Just leave the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. If the issue still occurs after then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the phone might be water damaged.
S9+ Recovering Data When Display Not Working
Problem: S9+ with black screen after a drop. I’ve read your website about unlocking the phone to extract the data but in the directions it says enter Passcode on screen….i can’t do anything with the screen…its black. I tried connecting to my computer but nothing shows…i’m assuming because the screen is still locked.
Solution: Unfortunately you won’t be able to retrieve the data stored in the phone unless the display is working. I suggest that you have the phone repaired first but make sure not to perform a factory reset.
