Problem: Hey guys so i recently dropped my phone into a pool after that my phone started to have the Check Charger/USB Port Moisture detected error i tried all the steps besides factory reset and even went as far to rinse my phone in water but i still can’t seem to fix the error and another issue i have with my phone after dropping it in the pool is that my cameras aren’t working anymore when i open any app related to cameras it just shows a black screen and stops responding and my rear front camera and flash has water vapours on them and i have no idea how to get rid of them thanks in advance for the help and reply.

Solution: Before performing any troubleshooting steps it’s best to make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you downloaded and install it first.

Since this phone does not have any waterproofing feature then it’s likely that the phone has suffered from water damage due to its drop in the pool. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to do for this particular issue.

Turn off the phone

The first thing you will want to do in this case is to turn off the phone. The longer it is turned on with water present inside the more likely that some component can become water damaged.

Wipe the phone

The next step is to make sure that the external part of the phone is not wet. Use a microfiber cloth to remove any liquid on the device.

Place the phone in a bag of rice/ silica gel

To remove any presence of moisture inside the phone you will need to place it in a bag of rice or silica gel for at least 48 hours. The rice or silica gel will absorb any moisture present in the phone. Take note that you should remove the SIM card and micro SD card when you perform this step.

Charge the phone

Before attempting to turn on the phone you should fully charge it first. In case the phone has difficulty charging then try cleaning its charging port using a can of compressed air first then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.

Turn on the phone

Turn on the phone by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step that you should consider doing is a factory reset. This reverts your phone to its original factory condition. Take note that this will delete your phone data.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the above troubleshooting steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a component that has become water damaged. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
