I will also share with you the procedures we’ve been using to fix similar issues in the past as this isn’t the first time we encountered this problem. How to troubleshoot Galaxy S10 Plus that keeps losing signal

The signal we’re talking about here is the cellular signal that allows your phone to use texting and calling services. This is also the same kind of signal that keeps your phone connected to your provider’s network.

Here are the things you should do if your Galaxy S10 Plus has a signal issue…

Make sure you’re in an area that has good coverage

First off, if this problem also happens to your other phones, then there’s no problem with your Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. While it’s probably the most expensive phone you have right now, it doesn’t mean it boosts the little signal it receives from the tower. No, it doesn’t work that way. You have to go to an area where there’s good coverage so that your phone will have a good reception.

However, if your Galaxy S10 Plus is the one with this kind of problem and your other devices have good reception, then the problem could be with the phone. But ask yourself first, “Has the problem been happening since day 1?” If the answer is yes, then there’s no doubt the problem is with the phone and there’s no need to troubleshoot. Just bring your phone back to the store and have it replaced as it’s obviously a hardware or manufacturing defect. But if the answer is no and your phone actually had good reception prior to this problem, then continue troubleshooting.

We don’t know yet why this problem keeps happening. Maybe it’s just because of a glitch in the system that’s why the signal drops intermittently. So, try to perform the forced restart to refresh your phone’s memory as well as reload all services.

  • Press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 10 seconds or until the logo shows up on the screen.

Once your Galaxy S10 Plus has rebooted successfully, continue using it but be mindful to know when the signal is lost. If the problem however, is fixed then it was just to a minor glitch or system issue but there’s no guarantee it won’t happen again. But if your phone still keeps losing signal after this, then move on to the next procedure.

Reset Network Settings

Apparently, we’re dealing with a network issue here and there’s a possibility that it’s just due to some settings that were changed. The problem is with the cellular signal but we really can’t pinpoint the issue so it’s better to use a more general troubleshooting procedure and that’s to reset all network settings. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings.
  3. Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  4. If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS. Once complete, a confirmation window will appear.

Once this procedure is done, the following changes will occur on your Galaxy S10 Plus:

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
  • Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
  • Background data sync settings will be turned on.
  • Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
  • Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

Only the mobile data will be left enabled after this so if you have to connect to WiFi, then you have to enable it. But the most important thing right now is to find out if your phone still keeps losing signal. So, continue using it and see if the problem is fixed.

Wipe cache partition to fix phone that keeps losing signal


If your Galaxy S10 Plus still keeps losing signal even after resetting network settings, then you have to delete the system cache so that it will be replaced with a new one. Sometimes the system cache gets corrupted and when it happens, a lot of issues may occur including network problems. To rule this possibility out, follow these steps to wipe the cache partition of your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  4. An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

It will take a little longer for you Galaxy S10 Plus to boot up after wiping the cache partition as it will create new caches for all the services and functions. But continue your observation to know if the device still keeps losing signal after performing this procedure because if so, then you have to perform a master reset.

Backup file and reset your phone

At this point, it is necessary to reset your phone to rule out all possibilities that it’s just a firmware issue. A master reset often fixes issues like this but if your phone still keeps losing signal after this, then it could be a sign of a hardware problem affecting your phone radios.

Now, before the reset, make sure to create a backup of your files and data as they will be deleted during the process. You may move them over to the SD card, computer or upload them into the cloud. After the backup, remove your Google account from your device so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. Once everything is set, follow these steps to perform the Master Reset:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After the reset, don’t install any app yet. Instead, setup your phone properly and use it to find out if it still keeps losing signal because if so, then it’s time you brought it back to the store and have it checked by a technician.
