One of the roadblocks is that the Google Pixel 3a doesn’t actually have a microSD memory card slot. That said, you’ll have to pick up an adapter and use your microSD card as a way to offload photos and videos off of your phone. And to do that, you’ll need an adapter, so be sure you pick up one of those first.

Now that you have an adapter, if you follow along with us below, we’ll show you seven of the best microSD memory cards for the Google Pixel 3a.

SanDisk Extreme PRO V30

SanDisk is a well known brand for all things photography, and as such, they also make excellent microSD cards for cameras and phones alike. That said, this one is one of our favorites. It comes with a whole 64GB of storage, which is plenty of space offload your photos and videos.

If you’re more focused on filming purposes with a camera, this microSD card is versatile in that it’ll work with those as well! SanDisk pegs this one as rated for shooting 4K video, so it’ll work flawlessly with most modern smartphones — at least smartphones that have microSD support — as well as regular cameras. Speeds are fast as well, rated at 90MB per second with sequential write speeds and 100MB per second with read speeds.

SanDisk Extreme PLUS U3

SanDisk’s Extreme PLUS U3 is worth a mention as well. It comes with some similarities from the Extreme PRO, but this one in particular was designed for more extreme conditions. Since it was designed for “extreme” conditions, the card can function well in rough weather, such as high-heat areas, or even directly into water.

This one features 64GB of memory, and has read speeds rated at around 95MB per second while write speeds sit at 90MB per second.

PNY Elite

Next up, we have the PNY Elite. You can get this microSD card in as low as 16GB of storage, and as much as 512GB. For our purposes, you’ll probably want to stick around the 16GB to 128GB range, sticking with around how much the microSD adapter for the Google Pixel 3a can support.

This card moves really fast, with read speeds sitting at around 85MB per second. This microSD card is excellent for all types of devices as well — Android smartphones, tablets, action cameras, drones, computers, and really, anything that supports a microSD card. You’ll be hard pressed to find better value than this card right here.

Silicon Power

Next up, we’re looking at the Silicon Power microSD card. You don’t have storage choices here, so you’re pretty much set with the 64GB that this model comes with. Still, that’s plenty of space to move around things like photo and video libraries.

It’s perfect for your Android smartphones and tablets, but you can also use this in scenarios like for gaming, such as with the Nintendo Switch. You can use this in traditional DSLRs and video cameras if you want, too. Silicon Power does an excellent job here, but we do like how the PNY Elite is a little more robust and made with quality in mind.

Samsung Pro+

The Samsung Pro+ might be third on our countdown, but is actually one of your best choices today. You can use it to offload photos and videos so long as you have the adapter for the Pixel 3a, but it’ll work with most other phones and cameras, too. This card in particular has 128GB of storage, which is plenty of space for photos and videos.

In fact, with this one, it’s optimized for filming 4K video. That’s partially due to the nice speeds, with read rates sitting at 95MB/s and write at 90MB/s. With the 128GB of storage, you’ll be able to hold plenty of high-res video in that format.

Samsung Evo Select

We’re looking at yet another one from Samsung. Called the EVO Select, this is one of Samsung’s lower-end cards, and so, it’s much more practical for the person that just wants to move files around. There’s a whole 128GB of storage inside of this card, and it comes with some really good data transfer rates as well. There’s 100MB per second for read and 90MB per second for write. Moving files around is obviously quick, and there’s plenty of room for, well, anything.

Samsung Evo PLUS

And finally, we have the Samsung EVO Plus, which is another excellent choice. Performance is on the lower end of the spectrum, making this one another one that’s more ideal for simply moving storage around, as well as taking basic photo and video in a camera. You get slower data transfer rates here. The 100MB per second in read isn’t so bad, but write speeds primarily take a hit here, with a drastic drop at just 60MB per second.

Verdict

As you can see, there are a lot of excellent memory cards available for the Google Pixel 3a. Really, any one of these will accomplish the means that you’re after. When it comes down to it, it’s really just the amount of storage that you want out of one of these microSD memory cards. These are a great way to move photos off your Google Pixel 3a and put them on, say, a camera or simply move them to your PC for safekeeping.
