cCloud TV

There are very few ways that you can get live TV on your smartphone. Luckily, if you’ve got Kodi installed on your smartphone, you can get live TV for on the go fun. Once you download and get cCloud TV setup within Kodi, you can begin watching live TV. cCloud TV will let you watch up to six channels in high definition for free, but to watch anymore than that, you’ll need a subscription. A cCloud TV subscription will cost you about $19, and this subscription is very worthwhile, giving you access of up to 24 different channels that can be streamed in high definition.

If you were looking for a way to watch live TV, cCloud TV with Kodi is the way to go here. In addition to being able to watch your regular TV programs, cCloud TV will even let you watch your favorite sports shows — NBA, boxing, rugby, etc.

Plex

It might be surprising, but Plex is offering its own Kodi addon! Plex and Kodi are competitors in the media market, so it’s quite a shocker, but the Plex addon for Kodi is actually really good — the synergy the two pieces of software provide together is nothing short of amazing. This gives you a central place to be able to stream all of your favorite media content — movies, TV shows, etc. With Kodi running, you should get a super smooth and seamless experience here. Plex before hasn’t had the hardware access that Kodi has, so by offering a Plex addon for Kodi, you’ll get a seamless Plex experience here.

Nemesis

Next up, we have the Nemesis addon for Kodi. Nemesis will allow you to access live TV streams straight from your Android phone. Nemesis will let you watch a lot of great networks live, which will keep you occupied for a very long time; however, the one frustration with Nemesis is that, every so often, you have to go to a website to get a new PIN to continue watching with Nemesis — this is just a way that the developer is able to make money off of their addon. It’s a bit frustrating, having to go out of your way like that, but still a nice addon nonetheless.

Mobdro

Mobdro is another neat live TV addon available for Kodi on your Android smartphone — it’ll let you watch a wide variety of channels. However, it’s strong suit is that you can make addons from the Mobdro API itself. For example, Mobdina is an addon for Mobdro, which adds content that you can stream, such as TV shows, movies, and even radio stations. So, in addition to being able to stream live TV, you’ll also be able to watch/stream content that has already aired on TV as well.

Cartoons8

Kodi addons aren’t always all about us adults. Sometimes you need a Kodi addon that you can setup on your phone that will keep the children occupied. The Cartoons8 Kodi addon will give you access to tons of different children’s channels. You can check out MGM, Disney, Cartoon Network, and number of other programming on the addon. There’s a neat search function in Cartoons8, which will allow you to sift through the sheer amount of content available. Cartoons8 is a fairly new addon, but there’s a lot of people already raving about it; content is being added regularly as well.

Verdict

So, which Kodi addon should you pick up and install for your Android phone? If you’re looking to catch live TV, we recommend going with cCloud TV and Mobdro. cCloudTV is nice because, in addition to regular TV viewing, you get access to a variety of sports channels. Mobdro is also well supported, even having its own API so folks can develop addons for Mobdro. Need something for your kids? The choice is obvious here: Cartoons8. Nemesis isn’t a bad live TV addon either, but it can be a bit of nuisance with having to reenter a PIN code all of the time.
