Samsung has quietly announced the Galaxy Tab Active Pro earlier today. This is a rugged tablet with a 10.1-inch display. While Samsung has been relatively silent about the hardware specifications of this tablet, we do know that it will come with an S Pen (going by the images), and will also support desktop friendly features like Samsung DeX.
The tablet will be available in Germany starting next month, and there’s currently no information on when this tablet will be available for purchase in other markets. What’s also fascinating about this tablet is that it comes with hardware buttons on the bottom, which is unheard of for modern day tablets. It is also worth pointing out that this tablet can reportedly survive drops of up to 1.2 meters.
This is also because the tablet is IP68 certified water and dust resistant, which makes it one of the best rugged tablets going around, although there should be a significant wait before you can get your hands on this device.
Samsung will reportedly offer four years of software support for the Galaxy Tab Active Pro, which should be reassuring to customers who are worried about software updates. There is a caveat here, however. Samsung hasn’t clarified if the updates will be quarterly/monthly security patches or proper Android upgrades. In any case, we’ll wait for more confirmation on this front from the company. The Galaxy Tab Active Pro will cost €599 for the standard version and €679 for the LTE variant.
