How To Fix The Netflix Error M7703-1003 Issue

The error M7703-1003 usually occurs when trying to access Netflix using Google Chrome and is often caused by a component on your browser that needs to be updated. It can also be caused by a component that is blocked by the security setting or program. Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem you should try to restart your computer first as this will usually resolve most issues caused by a minor software glitch.

Make sure your browser allows protected content

If your browser is blocking protected content from being displayed then this error message will occur. To fix this perform the following steps.

  • Select the Chrome menu button  from your browser toolbar.
  • Select Settings.
  • Scroll down and select Advanced.
  • Under Privacy and security, select Content Settings.
  • Select Protected Content and ensure you see Allow sites to play protected content (recommended). If you do not see Allow sites to play protected content (recommended), select the toggle next to the Blocked message.

Use the official Chrome browser

There are several browsers available for download that pose as Google Chrome but are in fact not the genuine version. You can check if you are using the original Chrome browser by following the steps listed below.

  • Select the Chrome menu button from your browser toolbar.
  • Under Help, select About Google Chrome.
  • Your version number will display.

The official Chrome releases will have version numbers with a ‘0’ as the second set of digits (e.g., 59.0.x.x). If your browser version does not have a ‘0’ as the second set of digits then you should uninstall the browser from your computer and download the Chrome browser from the official download page.

Try updating Chrome’s content protection feature

One of the components in Google Chrome that manages digital rights is Widevine. Netflix relies on this component to play content on the browser. if this component has become corrupted then you will usually get this error.

  • In the address bar on the Chrome browser, type chrome://components and press Enter or Return on your keyboard.
  • Locate the Widevine Content Decryption Module component. If the Widevine Content Decryption Module is not listed under chrome://components, check to make sure you are using on official version of Google Chrome.
  • Select Check for update.
  • If you see Status – Component updated, restart Chrome and try Netflix again.

Clear your browser data

There are instances when corrupt cached data in the Chrome browser can cause this problem. If this is what’s causing the problem then you will have to clear your browser data.

  • Type “chrome://settings” in the address bar of Google Chrome then press Enter.

Reinstall Google Chrome

Sometimes this problem can be caused by a corrupt browser. If this is the case, you will need to uninstall Google Chrome then install a fresh copy from the official download site.

To uninstall Chrome

  • On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
  • Click the Start menu and then Settings.
  • Click Apps.
  • Under “Apps & features,” find and click Google Chrome.
  • Click Uninstall.
  • Confirm by clicking Uninstall.
  • To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check “Also delete your browsing data.”

To reinstall Chrome

  • Download the installation file from the official site.
  • If prompted, click Run or Save.
  • If you chose Save, double-click the download to start installing.
  • A Chrome window opens after everything is done. You can make Chrome your default browser.
