How To Fix The LG V30 Can’t Send Text Messages Issue

It’s always best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before doing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an outdated software version.

Verify that your area has a good network signal

There are certain areas where your carrier will not have any reception at all. To verify if this is a coverage related issue you can check if your phone is getting a strong network signal. There’s also the possibility that this is caused by a network outage in which case you should check if other devices under the same carrier are also having the same problem in your immediate vicinity.

Perform a soft reset

Your device will usually store temporary data to make it perform better. There are instances when this data  can get corrupted which in turn can cause issues to occur on the phone. If this is what’s causing the problem you will need to refresh your phone software. This can be done by restarting the phone which should eliminate any corrupt temporary data in the device. This step also resets the connection between the phone and the network.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Wait for a few minutes before reinserting the SIM card back then turn on the phone. Check if the issue still occurs.

You should also try using a different SIM card in your phone to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a defective SIM card.

Clear the cache and data of the messaging app

There are instances when the data stored in the messaging app can get corrupted and can cause messaging problems. To make sure that this isn’t what’s causing the problem you will have to clear the cache and data of the messaging app.

Check if the problem occurs in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store can cause this problem. This can be because of bugs in the app or compatibility issues between the app and the phone. To check if this is what’s causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • With the screen on, press and hold the Power key.
  • In the options menu that displays, press and hold Power off.
  • When prompted to restart in Safe Mode, tap OK.
  • After your device restarts, it displays Safe mode at the bottom of the screen.

If you are able to send and receive a text message in this mode then the problem could be  caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
