Moto One Action Official with ‘Action Cam’ and Android One

Moto’s often leaked “Action Cam” toting triple camera smartphone has just gone official under the Moto One Action moniker. The Action Cam here refers to the unit’s ability to take landscape videos even when the phone is held in portrait orientation. This makes it ideally suited for shooting action videos including sports or any fast moving object, thus justifying the name.

The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie with Android One, offering a relatively clean version of Android without any additional software skins. Despite featuring a good camera and a decent software setup, the smartphone utilizes a plastic body, which is somewhat disappointing. On the processing front, the One Action is packing the octa-core Exynos 9609 chipset.

The rear camera layout consists of a 16MP ultra wide-angle sensor, a 12MP wide-angle sensor, and a 5MP depth sensor. There’s a 12MP wide angle sensor on the front as well. Moto is using a punch hole front camera here, which is positioned towards the top left corner of the display. Customers also get 128GB of expandable storage and 4GB of RAM, which tells us that this is a mid-range offering. Rounding off the specs sheet is Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3,500 mAh battery under the hood. The phone supports 10W fast charging by default.

Moto has announced this for European markets, with no information on an American release. However, it is believed that Moto will launch a variant of this handset for the American markets. We won’t be surprised to see a Verizon exclusive smartphone like this with 5G support on board.

Any takers?
