How To Fix The Samsung Galaxy J4 Mobile Network Not Available Issue

Make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version before you do the troubleshooting steps listed below. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. It is important that you should check for carrier related software updates as this will usually address carrier related connectivity bugs.

Verify that your area has a good network signal

There are times when you might find yourself in an area that is not covered by your carrier. When you are in this area your phone will usually get the mobile network not available error. To verify if this is a coverage related issue you can check if other devices under the same network are also having the same problem.

However, if you are in an area that has excellent network coverage but then your phone is not getting any signal at all, there’s a possibility that the problem is caused by a network outage. Try to contact your carrier and inquire if there is an outage in your area. If there is none then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Your phone will usually store the most commonly used data to improve its performance. This temporary data stored in your phone can sometimes get corrupted and can lead to this issue. If this is what is causing the problem then you will have to restart the phone which should eliminate any corrupt temporary data in the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check your SIM card

If this is a SIM card related problem then you can try fixing this by turning off the phone and removing the SIM card. Wait for a few minutes before reinserting the SIM card back then turn on the phone. Check if the issue still occurs.

You should also try to use a different SIM card in your phone to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a defective SIM card.

Verify the roaming status of the phone

Make sure that the roaming status of the phone is off if you are in your home country. This applies to travelers who have returned from a different country and still have the roaming status of the device activated. You can access the roaming settings of your phone from Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Data roaming. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs.

Make sure Airplane Mode is off

The airplane mode is a setting of your phone that’s activated when you are in an airplane. Your phone will not receive or transmit any wireless signals when in airplane mode so that it will not interfere with the aircraft electronic equipment. If you are getting the Samsung Galaxy J4 mobile network not available issue then you should make sure that airplane mode is off or you can try toggling this switch if it is already in the off position.

Change your phone network mode

Make sure that your phone is using the correct network mode that matches the one your carrier is using. For most GSM carriers you will need your phone to be set to 4G or LTE.

  • Open Settings app.
  • Tap Connections.
  • Tap Mobile networks.
  • Tap Network mode and select 4G or LTE or auto-connect.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

There are cases when an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause issues on the phone when it is installed. This can be because of bugs in the app or compatibility issues between the app and your phone. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  • When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  • Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then the best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
  • With no apps installed in the phone, try to check if the issue still occurs.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
