How to fix Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on | No Power

If your Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on, below are the troubleshooting steps that you can do to fix it.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #1: Charge the phone

Huawei flagship devices have good reputation and they don’t break often. However, if you suddenly find your own Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on or has No Power issue, you need to do a number of troubleshooting steps to fix it. The first thing that you want to do in this case is to charge the phone. The battery may have simply run out of juice at this time. Charge the device for at least 30 minutes and see if you can turn the phone back on.

While still charging, be sure not to attempt to turn the device on to avoid draining the battery unnecessarily.

When the phone recovers or if charging is successful, make sure that you recalibrate the battery and software with these steps:

  1. Drain the battery completely. This means using your device until it powers down by its own and the battery level reads 0%.
  2. Charge the phone until it reaches 100%. Be sure to use original charging equipment for your device and let it charge up completely. Do not unplug your device for at least two more hours and also don’t use it while charging.
  3. After the elapsed time, unplug your device.
  4. Restart the device.
  5. Use your phone until it

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #2: Restart device

Restarting a device when it has a bug is one of the basic solutions. If you haven’t tried this, make sure that you do a restart at this stage. Try to do a forced reboot by pressing and holding the Power key for 10 to 15 seconds. If your phone works, it should reboot and you should feel a vibration and see the Huawei logo. In case you do not feel the vibration and the screen is still blank, then simply press and hold the Power Key for more time until you see the device restart itself.

If nothing changes after attempting to reboot the device a few times, you can abandon this troubleshooting and proceed to the next ones below.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #3: Check charging accessories

Sometimes, a broken charging accessory, like a bad cable or adapter, can also cause this type of problem. If that’s the case, the problem is not necessarily on your Huawei Y9 Prime. The battery may have simply drained so all you need to do right now is charge it. Before you do that, make sure that the charging cable or adapter are working 100%. If you have a friend with the same device, try to borrow his or her charging cable and adapter to charge your Huawei device for 30 minutes. This should help you determine if the current set of cable and adapter is defective or not.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #4: Inspect the charging port

Like a bad charging accessory, having a defective or blocked charging port can be the cause why your Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on. Be sure to check if the port is working. This is an exposed part of your device so there’s a chance that there may be dirt, debris, or foreign object blocking the charging cable. If this happens, charging may not occur. To check the port, try using a magnifier to see more clearly inside. If you notice dirt or debris inside, make sure to remove it by using a can of compressed air. Do not stick anything inside to avoid damaging the system.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #5: Verify if there’s Black Screen issue

Black screen issue is often mistaken for won’t-turn-on or No Power issue. If your Huawei device still charges, makes sound notifications, or vibrates when you try to turn it on, there may be a Black screen issue. On the other hand, if your device is totally unresponsive and shows no signs of life at all, it has No Power issue. This problem is more serious than the first one although both may require repair.

If your Huawei Y9 Prime screen has cracks, obviously broken or has been hit by something hard, you should consider sending the phone in for repair or screen replacement.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #6: Check if you can create a backup

In case the screen is the only problem, there may still be a chance that you can transfer your data to a computer before sending it in. Creating a backup in Android normally needs a good working screen to allow a user to unlock the device and navigate the software. We’re not very optimistic on this one but you should at least give it a try.

Make sure to connect your Huawei Y9 Prime to your computer using a known working USB cable. Then, once you’ve done, check the computer to see if it detects your Huawei Y9 Prime your phone must be powered on in order to be detected. If a computer detects it, then try to unlock the screen (if possible) and go back to your computer. If its file browser can access the contents of your device, copy everything you want saved.

For data security purposes, an Android device must give permission to a computer before file transfer can occur. This means that you must unlock the screen and confirm a data transfer request from the computer. Obviously, you can’t do any of these if the screen is broken. If the phone has a screen lock, you must unlock it first so a broken screen means you won’t be able to do it. Needless to say, creating a backup is impossible if the screen is not working.  Forget about creating a backup if you’re in this situation.

A lot of Android users hope that there’s a way to mirror their screen to a monitor or computer to navigate the software. Unfortunately, this is not possible on Android if the screen is broken in the first place. The screen assembly is both a screen and a way to access the software so two of its major parts include a monitor and digitizer. The former displays the images while the latter is a sensor that takes finger touches and converts them into signals. Even if the monitor is working, you will still be unable to unlock the screen if the digitizer is broken.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #7: Try rebooting to safe mode

Sometimes, a bad app may interfere with Android or with other apps. If your Huawei Y9 Prime started not turning on after you installed a new app, that app may be the reason for the problem. Since you are unable to delete that app as the phone won’t boot up, you can try to see if you can restart the device to safe mode instead. In this mode, all third party apps will be blocked and won’t run at all. So, if you can successfully restart your Huawei device to safe mode, you can bet an app is to blame. Here’s how to boot it to safe mode:

  1. Power off the device.
  2. Power it back on.
  3. Once you see the Huawei animation on the screen press and hold Volume Down button.
  4. If successful, you can see safe mode at the bottom left corner once the device finishes booting.
  5. Now that the device has started on safe mode, charge it and see if there’s a difference.

Don’t forget: safe mode blocks third party apps but it won’t tell you which of them is the real cause. If you think that there’s a rogue third party app in the system, you must identify it. Here’s what you need to do exactly:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Huawei P30 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

However, if you are unable to restart your phone to safe mode at all, try to see if you can boot to Recovery Mode instead.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #8: Verify if device boots to Recovery Mode

This method is useful in one particular situation: when Settings menu is not accessible. There may be a variety of reasons why Settings menu may become unreachable. In some cases, the device may have simply frozen or unresponsive. At other times, it can be due to a problem that you are currently trying to troubleshoot. In any case, you must do Hard reset on Huawei P30 P30 via Recovery Mode when the situation forces you to. To boot to your Huawei P30 to Recovery Mode:

  1. Turn off the mobile by pressing the Power key for a few moments.
  2. Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons for a couple of seconds.
  3. When Recovery Mode appears let go of all keys.
  4. If your device boots to Recovery Mode only, then proceed with factory reset to fix the problem.
  5. Choose “wipe data/factory reset”. Use Volume buttons to navigate and the Power key to accept it.
  6. Confirm the operation by typing in “yes” and select “wipe data/factory reset”.
  7. When you see the Google Verification info confirm the operation by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”.
  8. Finally choose “reboot system now” by using the Power key.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #9: Get help from Huawei

If your Huawei Y9 Prime still won’t turn on, it’s time that you seek help from Huawei. At this stage, you can assume that there maybe a deeper issue with the hardware. Contact them and set up repair or replacement.

Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) won’t turn on fix #10: Third party repair

Although we don’t recommend this, you can definitely tap support from your local phone repair shop if going through Huawei repair or replacement system is hard. We understand that not all Huawei users have opportunity to access their official service centers or has the resources to go through a more expensive official repair. If you don’t want to go through official channels, then be sure to let a professional, albeit not Huawei-certified, fix your device. Keep in mind though that letting an independent technician fix your device will void the warranty. This means that Huawei will no longer accept your device for repair even if you’ll pay for it.
