Google Director of Design Teases 20X Zoom on the Pixel 4

The director of design at Google, Claude Zellweger, recently shared a photo taken at Google’s Design Studio. The caption simply was “light and shadow”. Pretty ambiguous, right? Well, as it turns out, this was also a teaser for the upcoming Google Pixel 4 and its purported 20X zoom. It was no secret that Google will heavily bank on the camera aspect of its upcoming flagship, given what we’ve seen in the past from Pixel phones.

The image itself didn’t reveal any details about the Pixel 4, but a subsequent comment on the same post by Zellweger pretty much confirmed it. He mentioned that the image was taken from a Pixel device and was captured using 20X zoom. Considering that no Pixel device yet can offer that much zoom, it’s safe to assume that this was indeed taken from the upcoming Pixel 4.

As for the image itself, it shows an immense amount of detail, which is highly suggestive of the fact that Google has something big in the wraps. It is being mentioned that the smartphone will continue to use a combination of hardware and software features to achieve camera greatness, at least for the time being.

The smartphone is expected to be available in a standard model as well as a larger XL model like we’ve seen in the past. However, there should be no difference in terms of camera performance between the two phones. Google unveiled the Pixel 3a earlier this year in an attempt to snatch up some of the mid-ranged market segment. The camera performance was praised by many, even though it wasn’t exactly on par with the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3XL cameras.

Are you waiting for the Pixel 4?
