Troubleshooting Galaxy A50 with ‘Gallery keeps stopping’ error

Here’s the thing, app problems are not really serious, provided that the firmware of your phone has not been modified in any way. For this problem, here’s what you need to do:

First solution: Force restart your phone

When troubleshooting a smartphone with app-related issues, the first thing you have to do is the forced restart. It is a simulated battery removal, which will refresh your device’s memory and reload all its applications and services. It is a very effective solution against all minor firmware issues, and here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, try to open the app to see if the ‘Gallery keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache and data of Gallery

If it’s just an issue with the app, then this procedure will surely fix it. What it does is delete the old app cache and data files and replace them with new ones. Those files get corrupted as well and when that happens, issues like this may occur. So, follow these steps to try and fix this error:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap APP NAME.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

After doing this, try to see if the ‘Gallery keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, try the next solution.

Third solution: Wipe cache partition

Aside from the cache created by the system for apps, there’s also a system cache that gets corrupted from time to time or after a firmware update. It is possible that the old system cache is already corrupt and so to rule it out, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After the reboot, open the app and see if the ‘Gallery keeps stopping’ error still pops up. If it does, try the next solution.

After the backup, remove your Google account so that you won’t be locked out after the reset. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.

  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
