T-Mobile says “no” to the Galaxy Fold

Samsung is readying the Galaxy Fold for launch, but it looks like at least one major US carrier won’t be offering it to consumers.

Customers that are with T-Mobile that were looking forward to the Galaxy Fold will be sad to hear that the Magenta carrier won’t be carrying the upcoming foldable phone. In a statement to The Verge, T-Mobile said:

T-Mobile will not carry the Galaxy Fold because we already offer customers a wide range of the latest smartphones. Please reach out to Samsung for any further inquiries.”

It’s likely that an Unlocked variant of the smartphone will work on the carrier, but T-Mobile won’t be selling the phone themselves. They didn’t give reason why, but it’s no doubt because of some of the issues that the Galaxy Fold had with reviewers. If issues still remain, T-Mobile probably doesn’t want to be dealing with warranties and returns en masse.

The phone is set to launch in five weeks, so T-Mobile still has at least some time to change its mind; however, we wouldn’t be surprised to see T-Mobile to wait and see how well the Galaxy Fold actually does first, and then maybe pick up a successor for sale next year.
