Samsung’s Galaxy Fold will hit store shelves in September

Samsung has let out the official details: its foldable smartphone — the Galaxy Fold — will finally hit store shelves in September, after spending months working out the quirks.

Reviewers were having some issues with different parts of the Galaxy Fold, which is what caused Samsung to delay the launch and make some improvements in order to help instill consumer confidence. Here are some of the changes that were made:

  • The top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display has been extended beyond the bezel, making it apparent that it is an integral part of the display structure and not meant to be removed.
  • Galaxy Fold features additional reinforcements to better protect the device from external particles while maintaining its signature foldable experience:
    • The top and bottom of the hinge area have been strengthened with newly added protection caps.
  • Additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display have been included to reinforce the protection of the display
  • The space between the hinge and body of Galaxy Fold has been reduced.

We have yet to hear an actual date, let alone know what carrier availability will look like, but September will finally be the month that consumers can get their hands on this innovative device.
