Troubleshooting Galaxy A30 with ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error

While most of the time this problem isn’t really serious, you still need to be thorough in troubleshooting your phone as you may end up losing some important files and data. Here’s what you need to do:

First solution: Make sure it’s not due to a firmware glitch

Firmware glitches happen every now and then and among the most common symptoms are app crashes. This could be just one of those cases, so it’s better to do the forced restart first as it may save you from all the hassles. The forced restart is actually a simulated battery removal the refreshes your phone’s memory and reloads its apps and services. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A30 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, open the app to see if the ‘Facebook keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it still does, then move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Find out if it’s caused by third-party apps

Being one of the most popular apps today, Facebook is often integrated with other apps as well. If one of those apps aren’t working properly, facebook may be affected and cause it to crash. You have to rule out this possibility by running your phone in safe mode to temporarily disable all downloaded applications. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Power key until options show.
  2. Tap and hold the Power off option until it changes into Safe Mode.
  3. Tap the Safe mode icon to restart your device.
  4. Once the reboot is successful, you should see ‘Safe mode’ at the lower-left corner of the screen.

While in this mode, try to see if the ‘facebook keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it does not, then follow these steps to probe further:

  1. Restart your phone normal to boot into standard mode.
  2. Remember the apps you installed about the time when Facebook started to crash.
  3. Once you already have an app in mind, swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  4. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  5. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  6. Find and tap suspected app.
  7. Tap Storage.
  8. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm.
  9. Tap the back key once and then touch Uninstall.
  10. Confirm that you want to remove the app from your phone.

On the other hand, if the problem continues even if your Galaxy A30 is in safe mode, then move on to the next solution.

Third solution: Reset all settings

There are times when some incorrect settings will cause some apps to crash. Try ruling out this possibility before moving on to the next solution. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset settings.
  6. Tap the Reset settings button.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

If the ‘facebook keeps stopping’ error still shows up after this, then try the next solution.

Fourth solution: Delete the system cache

Android creates temporary files called cache. The cache helps make the phone work properly and smoothly. However, when it gets corrupted, performance issues may occur including app crashes. It could be one of those cases. To rule this out, you need to  wipe the cache partition so that the old cache will be replaced with a new one. This is how you do that:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A30 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A30 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has finished booting up, try to see if the ‘facebook keeps stopping’ error remained because if it did, then move on to the next solution.

Fifth solution: Backup files and reset your phone

As long as the firmware hasn’t been modified, a master reset will be able to fix app crashes including this one. However, make sure to create a copy of your important files and data as they will be deleted. After the backup, remove your google and samsung accounts so that you won’t be locked out. Once everything is ready, follow these steps to reset your phone:

  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
