12 Best Soundbars in 2019

While TV technology has evolved greatly over the past few years, we feel that the performance offered by the onboard speakers are somehow not sufficient or don’t pack a punch. If you’re of the same opinion, the solution to your woes may be getting a Soundbar. While these have existed for quite some time now, modern homes look for a sleek speaker that can rest on a flat surface and pretty much blend into the decor.

This is where the new breed of Soundbars come into the equation. Although soundbars supposed to complement the speakers of your television, it’s not always a replacement for proper stereo speakers. However, you will stand to be surprised by the quality of some of the new soundbars that are available in the market.

We’re going to talk about a few of them to help you ascertain the best option. I personally prefer soundbars that come with Bluetooth functionality as they offer portability. However, performance will always be better on wired high-performance soundbars. So let’s have a look at some of the best soundbars money can buy in 2019.

12 Best Soundbars in 2019

VIZIO SB3621n-F8M (36-inch, 2.1 Channel)

This particular model was launched quite recently and is seemingly exclusive to Amazon in the U.S. As far as performance is concerned, you’re getting a soundbar with a woofer, making up for a 2.1 channel system. Interestingly, this soundbar can run on Bluetooth, making it an excellent companion for parties and large gatherings. The company is also mindful enough to offer all the cables and equipment that you may need to set it up with your TV. In terms of performance, the company claims that the speakers produce less than 1% total harmonic distortion offering crystal clear sound for every person in the room.

With audio level reaching up to 100 dB with this soundbar, it may be adequate to fill a small to medium sized room. It’s pretty wide as well, which makes it an excellent companion for your home theatre system. To further bolster its sound credentials, the soundbar comes packed with Dolby Digital, DTS Studio Sound, DTS TruSurround, and DTS TruVolume. Setting up this product is fairly easy and barely takes a few minutes regardless of your experience with TV sound systems. If you’re wondering, this soundbar is not wireless and requires to be plugged in, so portability is out of the equation. For those interested in a bigger soundbar, Vizio also offers a 5.1 channel soundbar.

Samsung Harman Kardon HW-Q90R with Dolby Atmos

This soundbar brings the goodness of Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos to a Samsung made 7.1.4 channels speaker. These technologies are instrumental in offering an enjoyable experience for every user. This becomes apparent as the audio comes at you from multiple directions. This offering is pretty big and includes a rear wireless speaker kit for added performance. It’s very well designed and blends in with any TV setup. Samsung also talks about something called Adaptive Sound, which can adjust the audio performance of the speakers based on the scene playing on your television. The same technology also adapts accordingly when you’re connected to a gaming console. Some of these features may also require a Samsung QLED television to work.

If you’ve got an Amazon Echo device at home, you can directly ask Alexa to perform tasks using nothing but this soundbar. Naturally, the speakers also come with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to play music wirelessly from your smartphone or tablet. Features like Dolby Atmos And DTS:X complement this soundbar very well. As far as audio quality is concerned, customers have nothing to worry about with this offering.

Bose Solo 5 Soundbar

As is the case with most Bose products, the Solo 5 is an understated soundbar in terms of appearance, but packs a punch underneath. Bose claims that the Solo 5 is adequate enough to provide better sound quality than your TV. The company has done its research in the audio business and has implemented features like Dialogue Mode which makes sure each word and line stands out from movies or TV shows. In terms of connectivity, you get a simple Optical audio input and Coaxial audio input. The Solo 5 also comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack which allows you to manually select audio sources.

Bose is also kind enough to offer a Universal remote that can control bass, volume and pretty much every other aspect of the soundbar. It can be quite overwhelming when you first look at it given the sheer number of buttons on it. Since modern day soundbars are required to be power packed, Bose has made sure to include Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to stream audio wirelessly from your phone, computer or tablet. Bose doesn’t offer any other speakers or freebies with this product, so all you get is a single soundbar. With Bose being at the forefront of audio technology for quite a few years, customers can seldom go wrong with one of its audio products.

BYL Soundbar with Bluetooth

This doesn’t come from a big ticket manufacturer, but will still get the job done. As a bonus, it also costs significantly cheaper than most premium soundbars. This comes in a 28-inch form factor and comes with adequate bass and volume to fill a medium sized room. It is offered with a remote control, which allows you to control bass, treble, volume and a few other aspects of the soundbar. It is said that the soundbar consists of two 20W full frequency 3-inch drivers which helps produce crisp audio.

The company has built in features like DSP mode which has preset audio modes for each type of content you’re listening to (movies, news, music etc). The design of this soundbar is quite unique, which also allows the sound to flow freely in 360 degrees without any distortion. This offering also comes with Bluetooth 5.0 on board, offering lossless audio and anti-interference features built-in. To make the connection process easier for the users, the manufacturer offers an optical cable along with the soundbar. BYL promises to offer lifetime technical support and 12 months of warranty.

As you would expect, color choices are barely non-existent here, so you only have the Black variant to choose from. Despite offering Bluetooth, this is not a wireless soundbar. It requires to be plugged into a power outlet at all times which takes outdoor situations out of the equation.

Sonos Beam with Alexa

Easily one of the most popular soundbars going around right now, the Sonos Beam arrived earlier this year in global markets and has massively impressed so far. The key highlight here is the sound quality, as it should be. Several experts have highly rated the Sonos Beam and considered it a worthy replacement for your TV speakers. The Sonos Beam also comes with a remote, allowing you to control the speaker’s features from afar.

Sonos has built in features like automatic remote detection on the Beam, which saves precious time as you set up the soundbar. Speaking of setting it up, it shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes regardless of your expertise in the field. The Sonos Beam can also be controlled through the Sonos app. The company claims that the speakers were specially tuned by Oscar-winning sound engineers, particularly to increase emphasis on dialogues and voice.

You will also find Alexa built-into the soundbar, allowing you to ask questions, request change of music, and so on. This effectively means the Sonos Beam can offer Alexa capabilities without requiring an Echo device around you. Fortunately, Sonos has been wise enough to offer the Beam in more than just one color, so users have the liberty to choose between the standard Black or White variants. Users can pair multiple Sonos speakers on the same Wi-Fi network to create a multi-room audio environment like no other.

Wohome 2.1 Channel Soundbar

This is a 2.1 channel soundbar with a sleek exterior and powerful bass as well as sound, making it the perfect companion for your TV. It takes 120W of power with an output 95dB, which means the audio from this soundbar should fill an adequately sized room. The company uses a 5.5-inch subwoofer for this particular setup, which complements the overall audio experience. The company offers a remote for the soundbar, which can control almost every aspect of the speakers, including bass, treble as well as volume.

This can also act as a TV remote depending on the brand of TV you own, although the manufacturer claims it will work on LG, Samsung, Sony, Vizio, TCL, Toshiba and other televisions. As far as connectivity options are concerned, this device is pretty well packed as well, offering an optical port, a 3.5mm aux port and a USB port. The company trusts the quality of this product and hence offers a 45 days money back guarantee. This is in addition to the 12 months warranty provided with each purchase. Users can also play music wirelessly using their smartphone or tablet over a Bluetooth connection. However, this soundbar doesn’t support Bluetooth 5.0, sticking to Bluetooth 4.2 instead.

Although it’s coming from a little known manufacturer, for the kind of features it’s packing and also the price that it’s selling for, this offering is definitely worth a look.

JBL Bar Studio 2.0

JBL isn’t too far behind when it comes to audio equipment and the same applies to soundbars. The second iteration of the company’s Studio speakers come with a gorgeous and simplistic design which promises to be an all-in-one offering. The Bar Studio 2.0 also boasts of a dual bass port design, offering optimum audio performance without requiring a separate set of woofers. What’s interesting about this offering is that it’s also compatible with HDMI (ARC), something that we don’t see a lot of among soundbars. Although JBL offers a remote with this soundbar, you can access most of its features with your standard TV remote. However, this may depend on the model of TV you own, so be sure to check with the company before making the purchase.

The speakers are capable of bouncing sound off of your walls to create a perfect surround sound effect. All of this is achieved with little to no wiring, which makes the feat all the more impressive. Customers also have the ability to play music wirelessly on the JBL Bar Studio 2.0 using Bluetooth. Given the performance it offers, this is no doubt one of the most popular soundbars out there. Unfortunately, there are no color options available here, forcing customers to pick the Black version.

TaoTronics 36-inch Soundbar

This is an incredibly stylish looking soundbar that can instantly enhance the style quotient of your living room. It doesn’t have any unnecessary companion speakers as one soundbar is all you need. It consists of 2 full range and 2 mid-low frequency speakers, offering the sound that your TV speakers simply cannot replicate. You can choose to connect over an Optical, Coaxial, RCA AUX input or a standard 3.5mm aux port. One feature I don’t particularly like here is the addition of LEDs that change color according to the function performed. This can be quite annoying especially while watching movies in a dark room. This soundbar also comes with Bluetooth onboard, allowing you to play music or media wirelessly on the device without any burden of wires.

As you would expect, the company also offers a handy remote with this soundbar, allowing you to control bass, volume, treble and other features. You can also control the functions of the speaker directly through the physical buttons on the soundbar. The company claims that this soundbar is built using robust materials to last a long time, so durability shouldn’t be a concern for customers. Unsurprisingly, there are no color options here, with Black being the only color on offer.

Yamaha YAS-108

Yamaha’s name doesn’t often come up when we talk about speakers, although the company has pioneered in sound innovation over the course of several decades. This soundbar is part of the same innovation and combines standard speakers with dual sub-woofers, all in one compact and stylish package. The speakers also boast of DTS Virtual:X audio that promises to space out audio to make it seem lifelike. Built-in features enhance vocal frequency range to make movie dialogues more audible without needing to increase the volume. Yamaha is also mindful enough to include Bluetooth here, allowing you to stream audio wirelessly from your smartphone, tablet or computer.

The YAS-108 can also perform exceptionally well when hooked to an Amazon Echo home assistant device. Although the soundbar doesn’t come with Alexa built-in, it can help you interact with Alexa using Echo devices at your home. The soundbar also supports 4K passthrough, so watching that 4K content on your QLED TV could never sound better. Customers will also find an HDMI (ARC) port in addition to a standard HDMI port. These can be wall-mounted while the built-in gyroscope greatly helps in maintaining the balance of audio based on the position it’s mounted in. Given the kind of features it comes with, the Yamaha YAS-108 is hard to ignore, especially among premium offerings.

AmazonBasics 31-inch, 2.0 Channel Soundbar

If you’re looking to save some precious money on soundbars, you may want to check out this offering that comes from AmazonBasics. For those unaware, this brand comes directly from Amazon and its products may or may not be directly produced by Amazon. However, the AmazonBasics brand is synonymous with cheap affordable alternatives to expensive products. Speaking of the soundbar itself, it’s a 31-inch offering and comes with 2.0 channel support. The company claims that this soundbar is ideally suited for televisions with under 42-inches of display real estate. So you may have to look at other products if you own a bigger and more powerful TV at home.

The soundbar also comes with a standard remote control, although it’s not a universal remote like on some soundbars we’ve discussed above. The speakers can offer audio output at 90 dB, which is pretty decent and comparable to most 2.0 channel soundbars. This variant only comes with a solitary soundbar, while AmazonBasics also offers a variant with a subwoofer built in. Our advise is that those who are seeking to simply enjoy movies and TV shows on their television can stick to the standard variant while those seeking that extra audio punch should have a look at the subwoofer variant. Surprisingly, both models look alike, so it may be difficult to differentiate between the two.

Soundcore Infini Pro Soundbar

This is a premium soundbar that comes with a built-in subwoofer and a sleek design, allowing it to merge with the decor. The manufacturer has taken special care to ensure this as there’s a black fabric laid on top of the speakers to blend into any atmosphere. The speaker layout consists of two front-facing 2.5-inch mid-range drivers along with 1-inch tweeters with dual up-facing 3-inch built-in subwoofers, and symmetrical bass reflex ports.

Dolby Atmos technology allows audio to come from all directions, replicating the stunning cinematic experience. This soundbar is better enjoyed with a 55-inch 4K TV as the sound may be a tad overwhelming for smaller televisions. As far as connectivity options are concerned, users get to choose between HDMI In, HDMI (ARC), Optical, and 3.5mm aux. This soundbar supports 4K HDR and Dolby Vision pass-through to 4K TVs. Customers can also access the speakers using Bluetooth on their phones or tablets. The manufacturer also offers a remote with this soundbar which doesn’t have too many controls and is hence easier to operate even if you’re new to the concept of soundbars. This may make a bigger dent than most soundbars in the market, but customers who purchased the product feel it’s well worth it.

MEGACRA 120 Watt Soundbar

This is a powerful 120W soundbar that also comes with a separate subwoofer to please audio enthusiasts. While it may lack some of the bells and whistles that we’ve seen so far on other soundbars, the MEGACRA soundbar will still get the job done. The subwoofer offered with this soundbar is wired, and is hence required to remain in your home theatre setup. There’s a remote offered with the soundbar although this product can also be controlled from any standard TV remote. You will find that all the cables and documentation are provided with the product, so you should face no issues during the setup process. While some feel subwoofers on a soundbar is overkill, I personally disagree. It significantly enhances audio experience and provides a more cinematic experience especially for suspense oriented films.

The company offers its own version of voice clarity which enhances dialogues in movies even if the volume is low. Expectedly, you will find Bluetooth 4.2 support built-in here, something that’s become a common fixture on soundbars. The key selling point here is the low price tag, and we would recommend this over some of the more expensive offerings available in the market today.

COSOOS 39.4-inch Soundbar

This is a massive offering which makes it suitable for bigger televisions. However, I’m very impressed by the design of this soundbar which allows it to rest firmly on the ground and even look stylish while resting on your home theatre system. My favorite feature with this soundbar is that it can be split into two to be used as tower speakers on either side of the television. This aspect makes it one of the most versatile soundbars we’ve discussed on this list. New users are recommended to carefully examine the user manual offered along with the product.

Regardless of how you decide to use this, it’s clear that it offers powerful sound that can pretty much rock any room. There are LED indicator lights that tell you which mode it’s connected through. This is something that we’ve seen in other soundbars as well. In terms of connectivity options, the COSOOS soundbar can support AUX, RCA, optical, HDMI, Bluetooth, as well as external subwoofers, so there’s really no dearth of options to enjoy your music or movies. The sound output of 50W somewhat pales in comparison to other soundbars, however. Either way, it’s a versatile product and definitely worth checking out.
