How To Fix The Samsung Galaxy A80 Screen Flickering Issue

Before you troubleshoot this particular problem it’s best to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software version. Perform a soft reset

There are instances when corrupted temporary data can cause this problem. To eliminate this possibility you will need to refresh the phone software by doing a soft reset. This is recommended in cases where the problem is caused by a minor software glitch.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

If the screen flickering does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

You will have to perform a trial and error method to find the particular app that’s causing this problem. Start by uninstalling the most recent app you downloaded before the issue occurred then check if the screen still flickers. Repeat this step until the issue will not occur anymore after uninstalling a particular app. This last app is most likely the cause of the problem.

Wipe the cache partition

There are instances when a corrupted system cached data can cause this problem. It’s therefore a good idea to delete this data as the phone will just rebuild this data when it starts again.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
  • Press the Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight ‘yes’ and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

One last troubleshooting step to consider is a factory reset. This will bring your phone back to its original factory condition. Take note that your phone data will be deleted in the process so make sure to backup your phone data before proceeding.

  • Turn off the phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the device logo screen displays, release only the Power key
  • When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.
  • With no apps installed in the phone, try to check if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps doesn’t fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already, possibly by a defective display assembly.
