Problem: Galaxy Note8 “Unable to turn on Flashlight. Camera light being used by Camera” error

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Flashlight is in use by other app & camera error message (not working) Out of the blue my flashlight stopped working a few days ago…simultaneously so did my camera. I tried all options, including the last resort and “reset” the phone back…I made a backup before and used that one to restart the phone later.  Still having the same issue…a moment ago the flashlight worked and the camera kinda for 10 both don’t work again with the same message. Camera is in use by other app/Warning …Camera failed. click ok and the camera app closes.

Solution: The error you’re getting is similar to this error: Unable to turn on Flashlight. Camera light being used by Camera. Either of these errors means that Flashlight or Camera app cannot be used because another app is using any or both of them. What you need to do to confirm what we’re saying is to restart the phone to Safe Mode. Here’s how:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
  8. Check for the problem.

While on safe mode, your Note8 will only allow third party apps to work. All downloaded apps will be blocked and won’t be able to run. If Flashlight or Camera work normally on safe mode, that means one of the downloaded apps is causing the trouble. This is the reason why nothing happened even after you factory reset your Note8 as you installed. the same set of apps.

In order to identify which of your apps is causing the problem, you need to use the method of elimination. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Note8 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.
