Samsung could be Apple’s new OLED supplier for rumored products

It’s no secret that Samsung has provided hardware to Apple before, but now the new word on the street is that Samsung could be Apple’s new supplier for OLED panels. These OLED panels would be used for Apple’s rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro, as well as new iPad Pro models.

While The Elec might not be the most authoritative source out there, it’s not a far-fetched idea. After all, Samsung already provides OLED panels to Apple for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and last year’s iPhone X.

Apple could be considering Samsung because of the production method that Samsung is using — they’re using a Thin Film Encapsulation (TFE) method. This produces thinner OLED panels, which would mean a thinner MacBook Pro, as well as future iPad Pro products.

We’re not sure when these products from Apple could launch, but this year could be a possibility for the MacBook Pro. A new iPad Pro is likely a little bit further out.
