How To Fix The Huawei Y6 Pro Can’t Send MMS Issue

Before you do any of the recommended troubleshooting steps on this device it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. This will minimize the possibility of the problem being caused by an old software version. Once your phone is already running on the latest update proceed with the steps listed below.

Carriers all over the world will generally require two things from your phone before it can send or receive an MMS. First, it should have an active mobile data subscription. Second, it should have the correct APN settings.

Make sure your phone is able to go online using your mobile data subscription and that it is getting a good data signal, preferably LTE.

Each carrier has its own unique APN setting so make sure to compare it to the one set in your phone and make the necessary changes in your device if necessary.

To access the APN settings of your phone:

  • Go to the Settings menu
  • Tap the Wireless & Networks section
  • Press Mobile network
  • Press Access point name

In case your phone satisfies both conditions but it is still unable to send out and MMS then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Try refreshing the phone software by doing a soft reset. This is usually done when a phone becomes unresponsive but is also recommended in this particular case.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Once the phone restarts check if the Huawei y6 Pro can’t send MMS issue still occurs.

Clear the cache and data of the text messaging app

The text messaging app will usually store the most commonly used data to make it run better. There are cases when this data can become corrupted which  can cause this particular issue. If this is the case then clearing the cache and data of this app will help.

  • Tap on Settings
  • Tap Apps
  • Tap on Apps again
  • Tap the Messaging app
  • Tap on storage
  • Tap on clear cache
  • Tap on the Home key to return to the home screen

Check if the issue still occurs.

Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode

Sometimes an app you downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store could be causing this problem. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Huawei logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it’s likely that the problem is caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

The phone system cached data is used to speed up the access to your phone apps. Sometimes this data can get corrupted which results in issues occuring on the device. To check if a corrupted cached data is causing the problem you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
