How To Fix The Honor Note 10 Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi Issue

Before performing any troubleshooting steps on this phone it’s best to make sure that it is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.

Don’t forget to turn on the phone Wi-Fi switch

Your phone will have a Wi-Fi switch which needs to be turned on before you can connect the device to a Wi-Fi network . This might seem like an obvious troubleshooting step but there are cases when the phone owner forgets to turn this switch on which is why you will need to check on this.

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap Select Wireless & networks
  • Select Wi-Fi
  • Turn on Wi-Fi
  • Select the wireless network you want to connect to
  • Enter the Wi-Fi password and select CONNECT.

Check if the issue is fixed.

Check if the problem is caused by the router

Sometimes the issue is caused by the router and not by your phone. Can other devices connect to the router successfully? Does the router have a setting activated ( MAC filtering) that is blocking your phone from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

One you have checked the router it’s time to troubleshoot the phone. What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the Honor Note 10 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue still occurs.

Reset the phone network settings

This step is usually done whenever the phone is having a problem connecting to a data network.  The following changes will occur on your phone.

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.
  • Paired Bluetooth devices will be deleted.
  • Background data sync settings will be turned on.
  • Data restrictive settings in applications that were manually turned on/off by the customer will be reset to the default setting.
  • Network selection mode will be set to automatic.

To reset the network settings of your device:

  • Go to Settings and Advanced settings.
  • Tap Backup & reset.
  • Tap Network Settings Reset.
  • Select Network Settings Reset, and confirm the whole operation tapping Network Settings Reset one more time.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Start the phone in Safe Mode

It’s possible that an app you downloaded from the Google Play Store will cause the Honor Note 10 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue on the phone when it is installed. To check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode as only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Honor logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

Sometimes the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight “wipe cache partition” and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the Honor Note 10 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then the best way to proceed right now is to perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to create a backup copy first.

  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
