How To Fix The Honor 8X Can’t Send MMS Issue

Before you do any of the recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem it’s best to make sure that the phone is running on the latest software version. If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first.

Most carriers worldwide will usually require two things from your phone before it can send and receive an MMS. First, your phone must have an active mobile data subscription and that it is getting a strong mobile data signal preferably LTE. Second, your phone should have the correct APN settings since these settings are unique for each carrier you should try comparing your phone APN settings to what your carrier is using and make the necessary changes if needed.

  • Tap Settings
  • Tap Wireless & networks
  • Tap Mobile network
  • Tap Access Point Name
  • Tap the Menu button
  • Tap Reset to default
  • Your phone will reset to default Internet and MMS settings. Try to check if you can send an MMS. If not then create a new APN setting with the correct carrier values.
  • Select the Menu button and select New APN
  • Enter the correct APN settings.

In case your phone meets both conditions and the issue still persists then you should proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

If the problem is caused by a minor software glitch then a soft reset will usually fix this . What you will want to do is to refresh the phone software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Check if the Honor 8X can’t send MMS issue still occurs.

Clear the cache and data of the messaging app

The text messaging app will usually store cached data in order to speed up its operation. Sometimes this data can become corrupted which will then cause this problem. To eliminate this possibility you will need to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app.

  • Tap on Settings
  • Tap Apps
  • Tap on Apps again
  • Tap the Messaging app
  • Tap on storage
  • Tap on clear cache
  • Tap on the Home key to return to the home screen

Check if the issue still occurs.

Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode

There are instances when an app you downloaded and installed from the Google Play Store could be causing this problem. To check if this is the case you will need to start the phone in Safe Mode since only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run in this mode.

  • Power off the phone by holding down the power button for a few seconds.
  • Press and hold the power button and release it when you see the Huawei logo on screen.
  • After releasing the Power key, immediately press and hold the Volume down key.
  • Keep holding the Volume key till the phone completely boots up.
  • Once the phone boots up,  “Safe mode” should be appeared on the bottom of the screen

In case the issue does not occur in this mode then it’s likely that the problem is caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’ and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the Honor 8X can’t send MMS issue then there is a possibility  that this is caused by a system glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button on your  device simultaneously for a few seconds
  • The phone will enter the stock recovery mode
  • Use volume buttons to highlight  select wipe cache/factory reset and use power key to select it
  • Reboot the system once the process is completed

Once the reset is complete make sure that the phone has the correct APN settings first then try to send an MMS.
