Solutions to “Mobile Network Not Available” error on Galaxy S10

How to fix “Mobile Network Not Available” error on Galaxy S10

Below are the troubleshooting steps that you should try to fix this bug.

Confirm signal is good

“Mobile Network Not Available” error is usually caused by loss of network signal. In many cases, people who travel experience this problem as their device receive intermittent signals. If you are located in an area with spotty network service, all you have to do is to wait until you get to an area with excellent signal. Once there, simply restart the phone and you should be good.

If you were able to receive excellent signal in the same area, it’s possible that there may be a network issue. Try to check with another phone if services are up and running. If you have another phone that uses the same network, see if there’s any signs of network trouble happening. If there’s no apparent network issue and all other phones (on the same network) are working, then proceed to the next troubleshooting steps below.

Restart the device

Refreshing the system is one simple solution that usually helps. In your case, you want to restart the device with soft reset. It’s another way to restart it but by simulating the effects of a “battery pull” procedure. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Press and hold the Power + Volume Down buttons for approximately 10 seconds or until the device power cycles. Allow several seconds for the Maintenance Boot Mode screen to appear.
  2. From the Maintenance Boot Mode screen, select Normal Boot. You can use the volume buttons to cycle through the available options and the lower left button (below the volume buttons) to select. Wait for up to 90 seconds for the reset to complete.

Reseat SIM

Temporarily disconnecting the SIM card is another way to fix network troubles on Samsung Galaxy devices. If you haven’t tried it yet, make sure that you do it before doing any other software tweaks. When disconnecting or re-inserting the card, you want to ensure that the phone is OFF to avoid corrupting data.

Install carrier updates

Some network troubles including “Mobile Network Not Available” error can be fixed only by installing carrier-released patches. In these cases, identified bugs are more likely carrier-specific so only a patch from your carrier can fix them. By default, the Galaxy S10 is set to automatically download and install updates so if you changed this behavior before, make sure to go under Settings > Software updates to check.`

Verify Roaming is OFF

If you’re on the road, make sure to check if you have Roaming feature enabled. If roaming is on, “Mobile Network Not Available” error must be the result once you try to register the device back to your home network. Normally, once you disabled roaming, the signal should be back.

Manually change network mode

Verifying your S10’s network mode is a necessary step for any network issues. Make sure that your S10 uses the right network mode. To check:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Connections.
  3. Tap Mobile networks.
  4. Tap Network mode and select 4G or LTE or auto-connect.
  5. While you’re at it, make sure that you also check the selected network operator. Then, let your phone search for networks so it temporarily disconnects from your carriers system. Afterwards, make sure that you use Select automatically so your S10 will scan the airwaves for available networks and pick your own automatically on its own.

Toggle Airplane Mode

Another possible reason for “Mobile Network Not Available” bug is Airplane or Flight Mode. Try to toggle this feature on and off and see what happens.

Check for bad app

Some apps may interfere with Android and other apps. To see if one of your third party apps, the ones you downloaded, is the reason for “Mobile Network Not Available” error, boot the phone to safe mode. On safe mode, only pre-installed apps will be allowed to run so if the problem won’t return, that’s an indication of a bad app problem. If you noticed that the signal started messing up after installing a new app, try to uninstall it and see if it fixes it. If you can’t remember any app that you install that may lead to this problem, then go ahead and restart the phone to safe mode. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
  7. While in Safe mode, you can now uninstall apps that are causing a problem

Safe Mode works by blocking third party apps from running. If there’s no Mobile Network Not Available error on safe mode, that means a bad app is causing it. To identify that app:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If the problem still remains, repeat steps 1-4.

Factory reset

A drastic but can be an effective solution for Mobile Network Not Available error is factory reset. It will delete all user data and apps and restore the software to its defaults. To avoid losing important and irreplaceable files, be sure to backup ahead of time. Once you’ve done that, go ahead and wipe the phone. Here’s how:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  7. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  8. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Contact your network operator

With factory reset, you have essentially done everything on your level to try and fix Mobile Network Not Available error. If it remains after the reset, make sure to talk to your carrier for further troubleshooting. Some network problems are actually not within the device but from a carrier’s end.
