How to fix Samsung Galaxy A6 2019 that won’t turn on (easy steps)

Among the most common issues with new devices has something to do with its capability to turn on or boot up. How to troubleshoot your Galaxy A6 that won’t turn on

While this issue may seem like a serious hardware problem and very annoying, more often than not it’s just a minor problem with the firmware and you can fix it on your own without any help from a tech. The following solutions can help you fix this problem and make your device respond again provided the problem isn’t due physical or liquid damage.

First solution: Perform the Forced Reboot procedure

Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key together for 10 seconds or more to restart your phone. It would be like a normal reboot procedure but the phone’s memory is actually refreshed as the phone simulates battery disconnect procedure. So, just like removing the battery, electricity stored in capacitors will be drained and this, of course, refreshes your phone’s memory. During the boot process, only the core services and apps will be loaded and this could be the only thing you need to do to fix this problem.

However, if the phone is still not responding after this procedure, then try to follow these steps as the combination might not have been performed correctly…

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t go of it.
  2. Press and hold the Power key while holding down the Volume Down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or until the screen turns on.

This basically has the same effect as the first procedure but we’re making sure you’re not triggering the phone to turn on prematurely. Pressing the Power key first will trigger the phone immediately so you have to press and hold the Volume Down button before pressing the power key.

However, if the phone is still not responding after this, then there’s a chance that the battery got drained completely. Try doing the next procedure.

Second solution: Charge the phone and do the forced restart again

The thing about a drained battery is that it could also be a cause of a firmware crash. When the battery drains completely, some services and hardware components may not be shut down properly. While a crash can be fixed by forced restart, your phone may still not respond even if you’re doing the procedure correctly because there’s no battery left. That’s the reason why you need to charge the phone even it’s not responding.

  1. Plug the charger to a working AC or wall outlet.
  2. Using the original cable, connect your phone to its charger.
  3. Regardless whether your Galaxy A8+ 2018 shows the charging symbol or not, allow the phone to charge for at least ten minutes.
  4. After which, do the Forced reboot procedure once again but this time while the device is connected to its charger.

If the issue is indeed due to a crash and drained battery, then your Galaxy A6 2018 should already be booting up by now but if it continues to be unresponsive, then the problem could be more than just a drained battery and a crash; there might be an issue with the hardware. If you’re positive the phone hasn’t been dropped on a hard surface or submerged in water, there’s a chance that there’s a manufacturing defect. That said, you have to bring your device back to the store where it will be replaced with a new one.
