How To Fix LG Candy Won’t Turn On

Having a smartphone that does not turn on is a frustrating problem. In most cases the problem is usually caused by a faulty hardware component. The best way to fix this is to bring the device to a service center. There are however cases when the problem is caused by a software glitch and if this is the culprit then you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

Charge the phone

What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. There have been several cases when the phone owner has forgotten to charge the device and this factor is what we will be eliminating first by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Fully charge the phone using its wall charger.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port in case charging using the wall charger fails to work.

Once the battery has been fully charged try turning on the phone. If it still does not turn on then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

Perform a soft reset

Try to refresh the phone software to eliminate the possibility of the problem being caused by a minor software glitch. This can be done easily by simply restarting the device. Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down until the device powers off, approximately 8 seconds, then release.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Wipe the cache partition of the phone

There are cases when the cached data stored in the dedicated partition of the phone can become corrupted. When this happens this this will usually cause certain issues to occur on the phone. To eliminate the possibility that this is what’s causing the problem you will have to wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

  • Turn the phone off.
  • Press and hold the following keys  at the same time: Volume Down Key + Power/Lock Key  for approximately 10 seconds.
  • Release both of the keys when the System recovery screen is displayed.
  • Press the volume key to highlight the Wipe cache option then the power key to select it
  • Restart the phone.

Perform a factory reset

In case the phone still does not turn on then one last troubleshooting step you can perform is a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

  • Turn the phone off.
  • Press and hold the following keys  at the same time: Volume Down Key + Power/Lock Key  for approximately 10 seconds.
  • Release both of the keys when the System recovery screen is displayed.
  • Press the volume key to highlight the Factory Data Reset option then the power key to select it
  • Restart the phone.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
