How To Watch Free Movies Online Without Downloading Or Sign Ups

Subscriptions after subscription can start to add up pretty quickly.  Your cable subscription, Netflix, Hulu, and any other individual services you might be signed up for can amount to quite a bit of cash in subscriptions per month. If you’re trying to stay frugal or want to cut costs, you might be wondering how you can do it without losing all of the entertainment that you get. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to watch free movies online, without downloading or having to sign up for an account!

Not sure what those services are? Follow along below, and we’ll show you some of our favorites. Let’s dive right in.

Crackle

Ready to start watching your favorite TV shows and movies for free? Then you’ll want to definitely check out Crackle, the streaming service put together by Sony. It’s not well known, and hardly has the credibility of giants like Netflix and Hulu; however, that’s why Sony is allowing users to watch movies and TV shows on Crackle for free! Crackle is available on a wide variety of platforms, so you can watch your favorite TV shows almost anywhere with a Crackle account. You don’t always have to create an account either — in some cases, Crackle will let you sign-in with an existing Facebook or Google account.

All you need to do is download the app on your device of choice — you can even hop on the laptop or computer to go online and watch at the Crackle website. Crackle, like other streaming services, changes its contracts, and thus its library, every so often, so you have a variety of content regularly coming and going.

Popcornflix

Popcornflix is another favorite that doesn’t require downloading to a device to watch content. This one is completely free to use as well, and unfortunately, you do have to create an account t get started. You won’t be asked for credit card information or anything, but you do have to have an account. One of the things that we like about Popcornflix is just how versatile it is — you can use Popcornflix on a wide variety of different platforms, whether it be on Android, iOS, on your TV device of choice, or just by navigating to the website on a computer or laptop.

Popcornflix is completely free to use; however, that does mean it’s ad-supported. Suffice to say, ads will appear and play throughout you watching a TV show or movie on Popcornflix. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it’s always good to pay the content creators one way or another; that way they can continue to provide free content! Like we mentioned, you will have to create an account to watch Popcornflix, but you won’t have to enter any credit or debit card information to watch!

Tubi TV

Another great way to watch free content online — without downloading — is to use Tubi TV. Tubi TV actually operates with licensing from content providers, so all of the shows and movies that you can watch online for free are completely legal, and not pirated. Those that are new to Tubi can simply navigate to the website or download the app to start watching your favorite shows and movies almost immediately, for free. Those that watch Tubi TV regularly will have to either create an account or sign-in through an existing platform, like Facebook or your Google account.

Yidio

Yidio is another excellent way that you can watch free TV and movies without downloading. Yidio was previously a database, where it could show you where you could watch your favorite TV shows and movies for free; however, now you can watch content directly from Yidio.

There’s a lot of strange and unfamiliar content on Yidio, but there’s an equal amount of movies and TV shows that you would be familiar with. There’s some awesome filtering options that allows you to find free and paid-for content. Near the search bar, you can actually filter by “Free.”

There’s always something new to watch as well — Yidio regularly rotates and switches their content around, either on their own or because of new licensing and contracts. That said, you should always see new content coming and going in the “Free” category.

Internet Movie Archive

The Internet Movie Archive comes up as last on our list, but it’s an excellent way that you can watch free content without creating an account. You certainly won’t be able to find new and modern releases with it, but you will be able to find all of the classics, as well as many older films — these are primarily movies and shows that have fallen out of the copyright status. There’s plenty of content on here that will keep you busy with the classics for weeks to come.

Verdict

There are a lot of great ways to watch free movies online without download and sign-ups; Yidio, Popcornflix and TubiTV are some of those awesome options. There are, of course, some pros and cons here. Many of these “free’ platforms just aren’t going to have many popular modern releases and shows for you to take part in. That’s why services like Netflix are always increasing in price — they have to be able to pay for those expensive contracts from, say, Disney, to show the latest Infinity War movie or the latest Disney movie.

Many of these require you to have an account as well — there’s not really a great way to get around it. These “free” services have to be paid for somehow, and that’s usually by selling user data on watching habits, and what shows get the most views.

However, if you truly want to watch something without downloading and sign-ups, really, you’re only option is going to be the Internet Movie Archive, and with that, your stuck with the classics that have fallen out of copyright.

So, it’s pretty much a mixed bag, but all five services we listed here are still a great way to watch free content online. Do you have a favorite platform you use to watch free content?
