How to fix Google Play Store error 963 on Samsung Galaxy S9

When the Google Play Store error 963 happens, try to restart your phone first as it might be caused by a minor issue with the firmware. After restarting your phone and making sure your internet connection is stable and the problem continues, then you have to go after the Play Store this time. While it’s the official app store for all Android devices, it’s still an app and may crash from time to time. That said, the next thing you should do is reset it by clearing its cache and data. You have to try to remove your Google account and add it again as it might be an issue with your account. Your Android phone is tied to your Google account so it follows that if there’s an issue with it, all services that depend on it may also fail. Try removing it from your phone and then reboot your device. After which, add the account again and download an app. If the issue continues and you badly need to install the app, then you have no other choice but to reset your phone. All firmware-related issues can be fixed by a reset and this one’s no exception. However, make sure to backup your files and data before the reset as they will be deleted:

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
