The #Samsung #Galaxy #S7Edge is one of the two flagship phones that Samsung released last year, the other being the S7. What makes this phone different from the regular S7 version is that it has a much larger 5.5 inch Super AMOLED screen that curves around both edges. With a larger screen the phone is also able to accomodate a much larger 3600mAh battery. Although this is a solid performing device there are still instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 Edge stuck on installing system update issue & other related problems.

S7 Edge Stuck On Installing System Update
Problem: Good day, I updated my bosses S7 Edge but the “installing system update” has been sitting on 80% for half an hour already. He does not want to do a factory reset. The phone is also very hot to the touch. Is there something I can do to get out of the system update without having to reset the phone?
Solution: Try removing the microSD card of the phone ( if one is installed) then press and hold the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. Once it does try doing the software update again.
If the problem still occurs then start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the phone. This won’t delete your phone data. Restart the phone then repeat the system update.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider performing a factory reset on the phone. Make sure to backup the phone data before doing the update.
S7 Edge Music Turns Off When Texting
Problem: I have a galaxy s7 edge. My problem is when I have my headphones on and I get a text. When I go to text back my music turns off, every time I use the keyboard the music goes off. Can you help me?
Solution: The first thing that you need to do for this particular issue is to check if an app you downloaded is causing the problem. To do this just start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Make sure your phone is running on the latest software update.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Edge Not Completely Charging To 100%
Problem: Samsung galaxy s7 edge. Will charge to like 96% and then doesn’t seem to go above it, or if it does, it takes hours and hours, if it does at all. What can I do? I don’t know what android version it is. It was with Sprint but I got an unlock code from Sprint and am hoping to start using it with AT&T
Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done try charging the phone again. If the issue persists then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue is fixed.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to have the battery of your phone checked at a service center.
S7 Edge Stuck On Bootloop
Problem: I was using The Omega Droid Rom, had never given me any problems at all, yesterday the phone reset itself, booted up, and then it worked for 3 minutes, it froze, and rebooted again. it worked for 3 more minutes then completely froze, unresponsive. screen always on for more than 15 min. power button pressed for any period of time, not responsive. forced reset with vol down and power, it rebooted and worked for 5 min and it would freeze again. made a factory reset, phone restarted and went through the boot up. when on the menu it froze again, unresponsive until force reset Vol down +power. tried flashing stock rom with Odin, process was normal, but now stuck on bootloop, when I connect power cord, it charges for a minute but turns on by itself, and goes to bootloop. can’t turn off, only when battery dies, if I connect the cable it does the same. only responsive thing I can do is boot to download. nothing else works, cant boot to TWRP or safe mode or anything (tried safe mode before factory reset and it also froze after 3 min). what do you think it can be? do I need to take it to tech support? it is the international version, factory Unlocked SM-G935F bought on Amazon.
Solution: Unfortunately it looks like this problem is already caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Fast Battery Drain
Problem: Hi, I just bought a s7 edge a week ago and I have not yet downloaded any apps except for whatsapp. However the battery life just keeps going down by about 2 to 3 % every hour. I don’t play any games on it. Is this a cause for concern?
Solution: You can check if it’s a third party app that is causing this problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the battery still drains quickly in this mode. If it doesn’t then you should try uninstalling Whatsapp.
In case the issue persists then the battery drain might be caused by the phone using more power to get a stable signal from the network. Make sure that you are in an area with a good signal coverage so that the phone will not use more power to boost its antenna.
S7 Edge Text Messaging Sending Receiving Fails
Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge, in the mornings “generally” is when the issue is the worst. The issue being: sending/receiving tests always fails unless I were to make a phone call… I’ve don’t every reboot except for master reset that I’m trying to avoid
Solution: Make sure that the phone is getting a good signal from the network as this can affect the way you send or receive text messages. In case the phone has a good signal and the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S7 Edge Not Charging Not Turning On
Problem: my niece accidentally put my phone in download mode with my phone at 1 percent i tried turning it on but i held the up and down volume keys now my phone is a brick wont charge wont turn on and wont boot up with anything you’ve said to try
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. Follow the steps listed below.
- Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Charge the phone using its wall charger for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
