How to fix Fitbit Alta HR that’s not receiving notifications from Android device

Your Fitbit Alta HR should be able to receive notifications from your Android device without any problems. However, there have been users who were complaining because their trackers no longer receive notifications from their device especially if they receive text messages or if there are calendar events that the user has to know about.

In this post, I will guide you in troubleshooting your Fitbit Alta HR that can no longer receive notifications from your phone. While this kind of issue is very annoying, it’s not really that hard to fix. In fact, it might be just a minor issue that can be fixed by a restart. So, if you’re one of those users who are bugged down by this issue, continue reading as this article may be able to help you one way or another.

But before we move on, if you are looking for a solution to a different problem, drop in on our Fitbit Alta HR Troubleshooting page for we have already solved some of the most common issues with this device. We may have already published articles that could help you with your problem. Or, if you need further assistance, fill up our questionnaire as we may be able to help you with your concern.

Now, here are the things you must do if your Alta HR is not receiving notifications from your Android device…

  1. Restart your Fitbit Alta HR.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is disabled.
  3. Reset connection between Alta HR and phone.

This problem is software-related so it’s best to begin your troubleshooting with a restart which will refresh your Alta HR’s memory. Some of those who encountered this kind of problem were able to fix their devices by simple following these steps:

  1. Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
  3. Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  4. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

If the problem continues to bug you even after the method above, then the next thing to do is to make sure that your phone is not set to “silent mode” or “Do Not Disturb” mode. If the phone is in this mode, it’s just natural that notifications are silenced. Your Alta HR will not be able to receive them as well and that’s probably the reason why it’s not notifying you.

After making sure your phone is not set to silent mode and the problem is still happening, then reset the connection between your Fitbit Alta HR and your phone. The connection between these devices rely on Bluetooth and we all know such technology isn’t as stable as WiFi. So, follow these steps to fix this problem:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and check if Alta HR is on the list of paired devices. If it is, tap on it and select Forget this Device.
  2. Restart your phone.
  3. Restart your Alta HR once again.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, then tap on Account
  5. Tap on Alta HR and enable Notifications again. A pop up will show up asking you to pair your tracker.
  6. Tap on OK and continue with the process.
