Charging problems often occur when there’s a problem with the charging port, charging accessories, or with its software. Problem: LG V40 won’t charge normally (when plugged in to wall outlet)
I’m sorry if my english so bad ? My LG V40 is korean version, when i plug in my charger my LG doesn’t detect that’s a AC source charging but my LG detected that was USB source charging. because of that my battery filling very slow and can’t use the quick charge features. But, if i try on safe mode it can be normal. And i did your step to uninstall the third party app and then i try to switch off the safe mode my LG back to USB source charging again. What should i do? Solution: If your LG V40 charges normally on Safe Mode only, that means you haven’t really removed the real cause when you deleted a third party app. The real cause may still be installed. You need to do a better job at narrowing down the possible erratic apps. Here’s what you should do:
- Turn off the device and boot it back to safe mode.
- Check for the problem. If charging works normally (by connecting the adapter to a wall outlet), proceed to the next steps below.
- Uninstall an app that you think may be the cause of the problem. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
- After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to its regular mode and check for the problem again.
- If your LG V40 won’t charge using regular method (AC charging), repeat steps 1-4. Do the same cycle over and over again until you’ve removed the problem app.
After you’ve identified the problem app and removed it from the system, you can reinstall the ones you removed that do not cause any problem at all.
Restore software defaults
Since you know already that you have an app problem, another approach that you can do to resolve the issue is by wiping the phone and returning all its software settings to defaults. Then, once the device has been reset, install your apps back individually. Simply reverse the Safe Mode process of eliminating possible culprit app by checking for the problem after adding one app. So, what you need to do is simply to flip the process detailed above by adding an app and checking for problem right away. For example, once an app has been installed, you want to check right away how charging works. Then, if there’s no problem at all, you have to add another app and check for the problem once again.
For reference, these are the steps on how to factory reset your LG V40:
- Create a backup of your personal data.
- Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
- Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons.
- When the LG logo appears, quickly release and then re-hold the Power button while continuing to hold the Volume down button.
- When the ‘Delete all user data (including LG and carrier apps) and reset all settings’ message appears, use the Volume down button to highlight Yes.
- Press the Power button to reset the device
