S6 Unable To Text After Marshmallow Update

Problem: I updated my phone this morning to android 6.0.1. After the update I’m unable to text at all. When I open my default messaging app it just says “refreshing” and none of my old texts will load. It won’t allow me to send or receive a message and it won’t even let me create a new text to try and send. When in the messaging app my phone will also restart. I had chomp sms installed as well and it won’t work with that either. I uninstalled chomp sms and my stock sms app still won’t work. I turned my phone on in safe mode as well and sms still will not work. Any idea?

Related Problem: As of last night, I recently downloaded Marshmallow 6.0.1. Texting was working last night, but this morning it is not. When I try to send a text I get a warning, “Error: sending failed.” I’ve made sure I have a good service connection and I restarted the device as well. I also force stopped the app, and still I’m not sure why it’s not sending texts.

Related Problem: I should have known better than to install this update for marshmallow.  I now can’t send text messages but can receive them.  I no longer see an option to clear my cache either.  I am not that tech savvy so any help is appreciated.  A factory reset should not be the only option because I do not want to lose contacts, pictures, etc.  Thanks.  Very frustrating.

Solution: The common denominator of the problems listed above is that it occurred right after the Marshmallow update.  Before doing any troubleshooting on the phone make sure to verify that the device has a good signal and that you have an active text messaging subscription.

Try to do the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue. Check if the issue still occurs after performing one step then move to the next if the problem still occurs.

  • Check if your phone is using the correct message center number. Contact the customer service of your carrier and ask for the message center number. Make the necessary changes in your device.
  • Try to use the stock messaging app if you are using a third party messaging app
  • Clear the cache and data of the messaging app
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Messages Always Refreshing After Marshmallow Update

Problem: I am having problems ever since I updated my phone to the marshmallow update this morning. I click on my messages app that is the general one and it opens and says refreshing… across the top. I can not click new message none of my old messages show on that screen. If I go into contacts and message that way it doesn’t open. The other problem is that every 10 minutes my phone just restarts all by itself. My battery is just draining also. no apps are open and before this my battery would easily last all day with normal usage.HELP!!!

Solution: To fix the messages always refreshing issue you will need to clear the cache and data of the messaging app. Since your phone is also constantly restarting then this is most likely caused by some form of corrupt data in your device. Unfortunately, this reboot issue is common among phone owners who have upgraded to Marshmallow and can only be resolved by doing a factory reset. Take note that you have to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S6 Marshmallow Update Freezes At 92%

Problem: I recently tried to update my Samsung Galaxy S6 to Marshmallow, but the update freezes at 92%, then the phone restarts and starts the update again from 0%.I tried rebooting but the same thing happens.

Solution: Before doing the troubleshooting make sure your phone is connected to a strong and stable Wi-Fi network.

To fix this issue try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode first then do the update. If the issue still occurs then you will have to backup your phone sata then do a factory reset. After the reset download the update again.

S6 Keeps Changing Themes After Marshmallow Update

Problem: S6 restarting after 6.0.1 Update: I tried checking various app and came to the conclusion that The MyThemes app is causing the restarting of device. I switched back to the Default theme and now my device isn’t restarting. However the themes app is behaving very very weirdly. Default marshmallow s6 theme comes with white notification bar but at times it gets black and every other screen gets black background. Then again i have to change it to other theme and switch it back to default. It’s like it is using the wallpapers and background of other themes.

Solution: Begin the troubleshooting by wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Restart your phone then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then check if a third party app is causing this problem by starting your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run while apps you downloaded are disabled. If the issue does not occur in this mode then you need to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.

If the above troubleshooting steps fail then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

  1. My pattern lock and back up pin does not work, I can’t og in to my s6 edge device after I update 🙁 what can I do?

  2. I tried the method for fixing my texts but it didn’t work. After I upgraded to 6.0 this morning, I can open the default messages app on my s6 but as soon as I cock a conversation, it crashes. I can click the new sms button and type in a contract and view the history for a few small scrolls and I can type a message but once I hit send, it crashes. The texts so far go through to the recipient though. I can even respond using the quick reply notification pop down.

Once I cleared the cache and once I cleared the data, force stopping the app before each. After clearing the data, I still had all my conversations though. I haven’t found a good third party app yet and I really don’t want to have to use one.
